“Neglected monument, but worth visiting”
Reviewed 22 March 2014

Sarkhej Roja is one of the finest Islamic monuments of Gujarat but is unfortunately seldom visited by tourists and its maintenance is also neglected by the local authorities. It is a beautiful historical complex worth visiting, some parts now unfortunately lie in ruins (except the mosque). This place also lacks tourist amenities. The location could be one factor why this place is ignored as it is in the outskirts of Ahmedabad and far away from the historic monuments of the old city.

“For a great Sufi feeling”
Reviewed 20 March 2014

Sakhej Roza was bustling with people on the Sunday evening when we visited it. It seems to be most sought after place for people to gather and pray.
We never felt unwelcomed. The people were very friendly and we could easily move around without any hesitations.

It also has some exquisite collection of jaali works. The biggest pond was dry, however it would be amazing in its hay days when it will be filled with water.

It also houses the tombs of Mohammad Begra and Rani Roopba.

“Truly impressive”
Reviewed 15 March 2014

A beautiful complex a bit out of town which lets you imagine life in the 15th century through a combination of palaces, mosques, shrines and exhibitions.

Not to be missed when in Ahmedabad.

“Ok if You Have Spare Time”
Reviewed 13 March 2014

It is a large pond with some remnants of a wall and palaces. The place, as is usual with most Indian historical places, is not very tourism friendly and is more for local couples and pass time friends. People come for playing cards and lazing around. One can only wonder, how beautiful the place would have been, one of those days!

“Ignored architecture”
Reviewed 4 March 2014

It is shameful to ignore such a beautiful master piece of Sufi architecture with monuments, well, prayer hall etc. However as normal no attention to preserve, our Bharat Desh mahan.
