“Grand architecture”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 June 2014

I have stayed in Ahmedabad for the past few years, but I finally visited this mosque only couple of months back.Although it is a religious place, the serious grandeur of the building will impress everyone. The carvings, the columns, the long passageways, and the devotees who pray and wander around this beautiful mosque, make the place unique. It is situated in the most congested part of the city, but as soon as you enter the place, a sense of peace engulfs you(I have not visited on a Friday, though).

“Very good memories...!”

It is one of the landmark of Ahmedabad. Located nearer to the railway station in a densely populated location, the religious structure inspires a awe in you. The vast clear area inside the Masjid complex is punctuated with a central water bodies where namazis offer their prayers.

The Jali work is terrific and the magnificent structure with all those columns is sure a delight to watch.

“Impressive”

A huge mosque, with ritual cleansing pool in courtyard. Lovely carvings in the galleries skirting the courtyard, where the celebrants preach and lead the prayers from special niches in the walls. It was so hot the soles of my feet were burning on the stone paving - it pays to toughen up the feet before visiting Indian places of worship!

“Jewel of a Mosque !!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 March 2014

The Jama masjid is one of the hidden jewels of Ahmedabad. Its probably very less known but its really one of the most beautiful mosques of India.

You cannot probably make out the grandeur from outside as all that you can see from main road is a Wakf Committee Board. But the great stuff lies behind those doors.

Its walkable distance from Bhadra fort. You walk straight from Bhadra fort towards "teen darwaza".

You have to pass through the smelly, busy meat shops to reach "teen darwaza"

You cross "teen darawaza" and walk down the broad street.

Its probably best if you ask for direction. However, its really one of the great mosques of India.
