Ahmedabad was the Manchester of India.Calico Museum was created by the sarabhai family and is housed in the most magnificant house of the sarabhai family. The collection at the museum is very RARE. It used to be open to people who arrived on time but of late they only take one batch of 20 in the morning to see the fabric part and one in the afternoon.ONE MUST BOOK THE PLACE WELL IN ADVANCE OR ELSE IT WILL BE A DISAPPOINTMENT AT THE LAST MINUIT.
It is worth a visit

If you are a tourist interested to experience wonderful Gujarat's heritage you must visit this place. It has big collections of old things with heritage value from cloth, utencils, furniture, customs, houses ,Havelies, precious old age documents, gold woven saris, armors and lot more. It is a private collections. Great thing is that entry is free with guided assistance. Parking is also free. It is near the under-bridge of Shahibaug near to the old city in a way to Ahmadabad airport.Go there at 10 pm or 3 pm one hour needed. They start after enough gathering.Do visit you will have a good memory.

“Need at least basic stuff”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2014

We visited this place. It was better then my expectation. We had to wait for 20 mins in an area with no fans in the hot summer! Btw 2 museums.
We suggest management to aleast put couple of fans in the lobby near water pond after 1st museum.
Also 2nd museum had some maintenance work going in couple of rooms so we were rushed up.
Now, as our family finished the trip, we wanted to come out the guide made us write in the diary that we have to leave as we are getting late for sight seeing? Otherwise we have to wait for other people to come out too...
Common man this is 2014....

“Beautiful museum but awful treatment of visitors”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 April 2014 via mobile

The collection of this museum is outstanding but not well displayed, so you will be looking at things without knowing what they are. Our guide was not helpful and treated the visitors as prisoners under surveillance. Definitely a lot to work on the management of this place.
