Lokatiya Palace + Museum
One place which is still worth visiting is the palace and museum. It is an interesting place to see the remnants of bygone era and a few wonderful paintings. The architecture is great and do not miss elephant with wings on the corners. The entry is interesting and the walk to the centre is peaceful. Admire the bygone era metal fences. They do not make it any more. The guardians at the first gate and the elephants at the 2nd are really worth stepping and then all the photographs of Ranji Trophy Starter. (Jamsaheb Ranjitsinhji could some cards be made for cricket enthusiasts?). It has the rare hippo skull. An expert taxidermist with humidity controlled room is required to bring all the carelessly stocked animals. The coins and manuscripts are interesting but a more detailed note would be welcome. Walk on the circular rampart could be allowed. Could the book store sell translated version of all the books especially into eng, French, German and Spanish?
The lake (Ranmal Talav) surrounding it is clear but not as clear as expected. Four washrooms need to be added quickly around it. The birds were few but I was thrilled to see a bar headed geese. A place to stroll around, takes about one and half for the complete place. I took around two hours as I was fascinated by the paintings showing hell for all your bad deeds. Need to look out and choose.
