Maneland Jungle Lodge
Reviewed 30 May 2014

If you are looking for as budget resort wit decent facilities. This is there right place. We were a group of 6 guys and were looking to just dump our bags and enjoy the safari. The food is good primarily veg. Not many options. But the rooms were clean and good long beds. Water was available as well as generator. But one bad riview was that they don't have enough water to wash cars.
Overall it was satisfactory.
Thanks.

It was in January 2014 we planned for a Botanical Excursion to Gir forest national park and adjoining areas. We hail from University of Delhi. The foremost thing before us was where we are going to make our base stay. We went through tripadvisor.in and there we learned about Maneland Jungle Lodge. The enthusiastic and positive comments and reviews regarding this lodge and particularly about GM Mr. Ashok Chavda inclined us towards this lodge. I contacted Mr. Ashok and discussed about my trip. As our group was large (54 members, Students and Faculty) Mr. Chavda advised me for advanced online permit and assured me for the best stay at Gir. He was really a great help for us, not only for permit and accommodation he arranged a Bus for us from a Local travelling company. We stayed at Maneland for Four days, from 11 March 2014 to 14 March 2014. At the very first when my students landed at the lodge they were thrilled, not sure about getting good facilities there in core jungle. But after entering into the main campus of Mainland all of them were seemed mesmerized, seeing the natural beauty of the place, antique architecture of the building, spacious rooms with all the modern facilities. We booked all the rooms, Mr Chavda was very kind to us, arranged an extra room for one of my faculty who has two of her children with her. Rooms were really very clean, well ventilated and spacious. We took two safaries, Morning and Evening and we were really fortunate that every member of our group was able to spot atleast eight to nine lions and with other inhabitants of Gir Forest. Surprisingly, some of our group members have spotted leopard, which was a rare feat. Mr. Chavda advised me to arrange a surprise for the students, which came out a biggest hit of our trip after lion sighting. It was a tribal group dance of a Sudanese Tribe (African).
Furthermore, the staff at Maneland was very supportive, receptive and polite. At our first day we
reached at lodge very late in the night, the staff was waiting for us, full of warmness and hospitality...truly.. this gesture of theirs make us sense that our stay at Gir and Maneland is going to be a memorable experience. The quality of vegetarian food they served was awesome, it was really very delicious and was appreciated by my students. These people have served very well to my students and faculty members. We also visited Diu Islands and Somnath, making Maneland as our base, as it was a kind of home away from home. My students were insisting me to stay one more day at Maneland as they liked the place very much. Overall it was a great stay and a life time experience at Gir and Maneland. I strongly recommend people to stay at Maneland due to the extremely courteous staff under the guidance of Mr. Ashok Chavda, who is one of the best persons i have ever meet.

Room Tip: All the rooms are spacious and well furnished with modern facilities.

I stayed in room 7 and loved the old stone style rooms which had tv with movie channels in English. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was some of the best I have had in India and the manager ashok was very helpful with his Information regarding the lion safaris and organised transport at 4am for me. Overall a great stay.

From Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh: 14 January 2014, we planned a trip to Sasan Gir and lucky to see five lions. But the best part of the stay was Maneland Jungle Lodge, where we got the experience of staying in unconventional house and amdist thick vegetation with a nice Camp fire activity spending time with co-occupants of the 15-houses compound off the main road. The manager Ashok is a very affable person and other staff make your stay enjoyable. The Vegetarian food was equally good enhancing the quality of experience. Suggest people to stay at this place.

We, a family of four, drove into Maneland without any planning while exploring the trail offroad in the dusky hours of tail end of December. The place looked so charming that we requested Mr Ashok if we could be accommodated. This imposing man was extremely courteous and helpful. We mingled with the other guests during the campfire and breathed the clean air of Gir forest in the lap of nature. Food was freshly cooked and delicious. Mr Ashok personally came and enquired about our comfort. The night sky was unbelievably clear and something that one rarely comes across in the other parts of India. We had to leave very early in the morning and to our surprise, Mr Ashok was there to meet us as early as 4:45 am. It was a home away from home. We highly recommend "Maneland" due to its value for money and extremely courteous staff in the stewardship of Mr Ashok. Godspeed.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Maneland Jungle Lodge is designed to match the asthetics of the area & stylized using local material & construction techniques. The lodge nestling in small hills offers a perfect blend of the wild, exciting & even romantic experience of the forest.Gir - a proud heritage possessed by the present generation, is not merely a heaven of wildlife. It symbolizes history , that has witnessed the vicissitudes of nature, the travails of wildlife development, the gradual recognition given to this nature's bestowal, and consequent emergence of conservation ideology. Despite the onslaught of biotic disturbances and climatic hostilities, Gir - with its virginal identity, stands as a testimony of nature's intrinsic self reviving power. Gir promises to unfold before you the unexplored vistas of wilderness and the splendour of wildlife, which is tranquil yet vibrant, serene yet colourful, silent yet communicative, distracting and yet captivating. It took a royal decline to an offer of a lion hunt and then nearly a whole of a hundred years to pull the Asiatic Lion back from the brink of near extinction. Now that the species seems finally secure, the management is faced with another paradox. Unaware of the awe they continue to inspire and retaliatory risks they face, the lion tends to follow it's wild instincts and venture out of man-made boundaries and reach upto the waves of the Arabian sea. The Asian Lion is amongst the rarest animals in the world and its best to visit him in summer, where the trees are bare, the grass has withered and he's down at the watering holes to quench his thirst. As you roam the sanctuary you'ed encounter the straight probing gaze of a Nilgai, the flighty stare of a Chital and if you're lucky the stralthy menance of the Leapord or the gentle call of a Lioness to her cubs. Only if man would make an attempt to understand that! Perhaps, you would! ... more   less
