Visited the Lavan restaurant some time back. The Hotel is newly opened on NH 8, a little out of way for Diners from Gurgaon. Since there are not many places in NCR which claim to offer Awadhi cuisine, it attracted my attention. I went with my son for Lunch when they have a buffet. But it was a very good experience. The menu is limited but it is not served in traditional buffet style. Instead they bring you each dish separately prepared and let you taste it and ask for more or reject it. All the dishes I tried Chicken tikka kebab, Galouti Kebab, Mutton Curry and the chicken curry were excellent. The dishes were prepared with delicate spices, subtle flavours and the cooking medium totally playing second fiddle to the taste of the meet and embedded spices therein. Only the galouti tasted more like shami. We did not try any veg dishes so cant comment on the same. The experience was awesome and a welcome change from surfiet of the frontier food offered in many up market NCR restaurants. Full marks to the staff and service for being great hosts.
The property is new in the 5 star category but it had a steel and concrete feel about it. The lobby was particulary dark having been done in black and grey. I would repeat the food experience any day.More
