a place to experience the charm of the old yet well preserved traditional village with it's own legendary myth. here you are away from noisy streets and busy market but you will be happy to hear that you have to walk just two minute to visit one the most important and most visited temple(manu) of the town. they serve some local foods on demand and the regular food they serve are also very delicious. the hotel has a nice view over beas river and vashisht village.

Room Tip: rooms on the top floor are better for a good view....

The Himalayan Country House is a wondefurl place to stay in Manali. To start, because it's nested in the old village, overlooking the modern town. Thus you get some countryside environment, and, what's more important, silence. All the staff, and the family running the House, are very nice, welcoming and helpfull. Rooms are ok, clean enough, large enough : perfect in accordance to the price and the location.

We stayed two nights here. Very quiet area, the neighbours are just local village families and many cows.We stayed at the top floor (1200r) and had some nice mountain views (when it wasnt raining). Room was clean enough and very spacious, with an alpine feeling. Bathroom was clean and hot water working. The shared balcony was nice but we didnt use it much as the weather was terrible. There was wifi working in the lobby and there was also a computer that you could use.
We had breakfast in the dining room, though we had to wait quite sometime before someone appeared. Staff is young and helpful.

Although a bit on the pricey side for old Manali, this hotel is well worth it. Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean and nicely decorated room and bathroom, plenty of hot water, nice food, great views.

We stayed in the Himalayan Country House and loved it. Although it's a bit of a hike up the hill from Old Manali (bring your torch), this is more than compensated for by the fact that it is actually inside the Old Manali village, and your sleep will be accompanied by the sounds of Yaks, local weddings and village life. The staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfasts are great. If you go in the cooler months, make sure you take warm clothes.

Room Tip: Best rooms are on the end of the building
