Veer GH offers some nice rooms in a very fair price. The hotel is located in old Manali in a peaceful yet central place. Many nice coffee shops and restaurants are only 5 minutes walk away.
The staff is very helpful and courteous and willing to help on any issue. Note that there are few travel agencies around the place and be advised always to check their offers and compare with others when traveling issues are discussed.
Right near by the hotel there are two bakeries some shops and a laundry service. Just the kind of stuff that could turn as useful.
The best part of the GH is kept to the the restaurant. Though you may find good food around, one of the best dishes i've had at the GH itself. Try the Alo Gobi or the the Pizza and you won't be disappointed. They also have some nice breakfast dishes on the menu that may remind you some of your meals at home.

Room Tip: There are 2 kinds of room level priced accordingly (500 INR / 800 INR as of Sept. 2013). Both are re...

After the excruciating 20 hour ride between Leh and Manali, we just wanted to find a good place to rest in old Manali and unfortunately, this place was one of the first places we saw which had rooms available, and we were too exhausted to look further. This was more like a large, impersonal hotel than a guest house.

The manager showed us our bedroom, the first on ground floor, with no curtains so we could not open the windows (because they were tinted). Therefore the humidity and heat were suffocating. The room, bed and bathroom were filthy with dust, dirt and pubic hair.

The hotel supposedly offers hot water but the next day when we needed it, we went to the reception to ask why we had only cold water. The manager said some jokes, likely very nasty ones, because the rest of the staff began laughing at us. He came into the room and explained, as though it was obvious and everyone knew this, that if we wanted hot water, we should have changed certain settings on the hot water tank the night before and that it was our problem.

After, we went to their reception to reserve bus tickets to Delhi. They tried to sell us fake seats and as we were skeptical and wanted to discuss together what to do and if we should trust their tickets or not, they told us that it was ''now or never''. We chose the ''never'' and bought our tickets with HPTDC, as advised by Lonely Planet. The manager took our money for the room without a smile or a word. At the reception desk, don't be surprised to find copies of people's passports, including yours, lying around, loose on the desk.

We went to Veer gh because we were too tired to continue looking, but did not feel safe or comfortable there. If you go to Manali during the high season, we recommend that you take the time to reserve a room in advance in a well-rated place to not end up in [--] like Veer Guesthouse.

We stayed at the guest house in September 2012 for four days. The guest house is very friendly and cozy. We stayed in the new rooms and we loved it. The owner is very nice and he will help you in whatever you will need help. He is also an excellent travel agent with completely fair prices.the View from the room is amazing!
Highly recommended place in Manali.
