Nicely managed roads. Not so decent but still there are lavatories on the trek. Would be good to check the weather. You can surely climb at night, which is recommended most of the times of the year, but you will not get as many options of food and beverages as you would get in the morning. Plan way ahead so that you can enjoy one night stay at Bhawan (it is really worth it).

Trek to Bhairo ghati (temple) is much more arduous compared to the trek to Bhawan so keep that in mind while planning.

This is one hindu holy place you must visit. The way is a bit uphill but worth it. The road is nicely done with enough light. you can walk or take a horse ride to the cave, or you can even take a helicopter ride to the holy cave. Myst Visit

Lovely temple in Katra. One of the powerful Shakti peet. We visited on 18th July. We had booked to and fro helicopter tickets. Tickets open exactly 2 months in advance. We were group of 6 and booked in the same timing.Debit cards used for booking have to be shown along with ID card of passengers.
On day of journey, however we were dissappointed when we were not allowed to travel together. Once we reached Sanjichaat we hired a horse for up and down to Bhawan and Bhairov. We had left our belongings with the horseman and went for Darshan through Gate no 5. There was no crowd had a wonderful darshan of 3 pindis , felt the peace and left
.Since the time for return was 3hrs we didnt take the risk of going to Bhairov and returned back to helipad. Needless to say we had to pay the full amount of 1000 Rs to horsemen. Just when we were about to leave in copter , fog blanketed the sky and copter services were stopped. We waited for an hour and started our way back walking.
The atmosphere walking is very different from copter experience. Lots of crowd shouting slogans of Jai Mata Di and drums .Nice festive atmosphere Palki horses and, pedestrians were coming up and also down. You can opt for stairs or road. One suggestion is to divide the road separate for pedestrians

I need not say how good the place is and the route is quite sceinic too esp during sunrise. The thing is anyone will take quite a few breaks while going up and coming down....the route has lot of horse poop all the way to the top and the toilets are just ridiculous...flushes dont work no water supply in most...so you can imagine. There are many shops on the wayso dont carry anything and go empty belly you dont want to use the facilities on the way, trust me.Easiest way to go n come back is by helicopters...although if you intend to hire a horse,do it for upward journey,in return its bad for your back.

Last week, I went to vaishno devi. Apart from main vaishno devi temple, everything was very terrible there. The walking path from katra to vaishno devi temple is very dirty and unclean. Everywhere there is plastic and food waste. Pilgrims can take horse to reach vaishno devi temple from katra hence the path is full of very badly smelling horse's outcome. This smell won't let you walk along the path. This bad smell enters in your mind and body and makes you uncomfortable. The path is full of unnecessary prasad, food and toys shop, covering the beautiful valley, so we can not have the view of nature. It feels like we are going through a crowded market, not on a trip. Horse guy don't care of pedestrian at all. I was hit hard by horse at least 5-6 times. The washrooms in between the path were not clean and smelling very bad. At many places there were very long queue like check points, main vaishno devi temple entry and adhkumari temple. It was very difficult to deal with mad crowd there in queue.

There was a place where we were top of the hill and can have beautiful view of valley but thanks to our public, that place was full of food and plastic waste so you can't stand there more than 2 mins due to bad smell.

It is very disappointing to see that we have such a nice nature, beautiful valley and greenery there, but our public destroyed it by garbage, food and plastic waste and urinal.

Some tips for you--
Please take Helicopter ride.
If you are going on foot please take newly created trek from adhkumari to vaishno devi. It is clean and no horses there.
Take only packed food from shops. Avoid taking cooked food like paratha, samosa and jalebi as these things can make you ill there.
