This hotel is opp Dal Lake.It is a very nice and clean hotel. It is like a boutique hotel. It has its own restaurant called TOPS.One gets rooms at 4500.Everything is at walking distance from this hotel. It does nt provide any heaters. It has small cottages behind the main bldg. which r pretty good to stay in. You see more of Heena travels ppl here. There is CCD just next to it if one wants to relax and hve a cup of coffee in cold there

Room Tip: rooms facing the Dal Lake r very nice

The hotel is one of the last hotels on the Boulevard road. We did not have an advance booking and just walked in into this hotel searching for one. The reception is very 80's style but beautifully done in traditional Kashmiri style. A look at the reception, and we thought it must be expensive. However we were pleasantly surprised to see the rates. The manager showed us 2 rooms, one of the deluxe category in the main building. Room was spacious, carpeted and lake facing. Second, he showed us the cottage rooms, which we finally booked at a price of Rs.2500 per night. Room was clean and comfortable, just that the bathroom was too small. Room service quick and one coffee we ordered would easily suffice 2 people. Overall a good stay. However, avoid eating in the hotel restaurant as food is nothing great and expensive too. There are a lot of options available on walking distance from the hotel. Overall, a comfortable stay.

Room Tip: Go for cottage rooms on the ground floor if travelling with children. the corridor space outside the room is good for kids to play around and they have a well maintained garden right in front of a few cottages. It is a good sight to see with your morning tea.

we went on a long 7 nights family trip to gulmarg(2 nights) , pahalgam(2 nights) & srinagar(3 nights) was our last destination . we checked in this hotel and were shocked to get a standard double rm as we had booked a fly room for 4 adults , but the duty manager kept saying that he will put 2 extra beds in that small room so there will be no place for the luggage.
we called our travel agent from ratta travels Mr Javed within 15 mins he came to the property had a healthy discussion with manager but to no heed then finally called up GM of the hotel I suppose Mr Mallik who fired the duty manager to immediately give the fly room with 2 extra beds to tourist . we almost lost gud 2 hrs in this debate and finally the day as being winter sun sets down by 5.30pm.
the main problem is that if there is walk in tourist due to off season they are offered 50 % discount and the same booking if it is booked by travel agent they are given 20% which is an unfair practise followed by this hotel staff, also they wanted some more money to be exctracted as part payment was done and they knew that this tourist will not go back as part payment done.
the room heaters were also not proper nor the electric blankets for heating - finally got tired and requested the travel agent and dropped out last night with this hotel to shift to R K Sarovar portico and was shocked to get in same rate a 4 * star with b`fast and dinner buffet with central heating.
also we arrange co ordinate & tie up with a local travel agent for shooting groups for AD`s but this hotel is definately a NO NO on our list

Room Tip: suites are better option for family of 4 instead of small double rooms with extra beds but hard bargian and no view of dal lake as solar pannel covers the view.

I stayed in Shahenshah Palace in 1984 and also stayed again for 1 night in July 2013.!! Not sure whether I will stay here again. Paid 2500 Rupees for cottage room # 5003 for single occupancy.

Rates on website is 2000 Rupees for single occupancy but they charged 2500!!

Clean room, good room service, nice restaurant and very good location near market and dal lake. Only thing was bad was cleanliness of towel. I need to ask more extra towel so I can pick nice clean one.

Only thing need to improve is size of TV.!! My room had 12 or 13 inch TV (not flat panel.!!). Also WIFI don't work in the room.

Also WIFI is free (in main lobby) but I have to pay 50 Rupees to use their very very old computers to print my air ticket.!!! Also took 15 minutes when I asked for receipt for internet usage.!!

Room Tip: if possible stay in main building instead of cottage

I have stayed in this hotel for 3 days from 6TH JUNE TO 9TH JUNE 2013. (2 rooms as we were 2 families). I had miscalculated that is was in front of Dal Lake but when I reached there I found that it was situated in Front of Dal Gate wher you couldn't get the view of open Dal Lake. As usual when we reached there they have given us the one back side room & one standard double room whereas I booked their 2 Premier Double Room specially for the Dal view & after some arguments they have agreed to give us the front side room next day.
Room service and the house keeping service was patehetic as they have set timings for all the servies e.g. 7:30 onwards for Room service, cleaning of the dust been etc. after 10:00 am, etc.
Their A.C. had short circuited way back in 2009 and it's still not working till now so we had to placed an extra fan in our room as it was so hot in SRINAGAR.
Anyways it was an forgettable experience staying at this hotel although I have been given a 10 % discount but it's still not worth it.
