Everything was perfect during my stay at Young Bombay. The owner is very loving person and he knows how to take care of his guests from their arrival at the bus stand or railway station or airport to the moment they leave. His family has been running the business for decades of years and he knows pretty well the need of the new generation (ie. cleanliness, working wifi, hot water, etc.). His knowledge of the region is awesome and the optional food is simple but very tasty.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Deluxe houseboat at Dal Lake, maintained by a traditional Kasmiri family. You will have the opportunity to experience the true hospitability of Kashmiri people, taste the local cuisine (also European food and spiceless dishes available), drink free Kahwa (traditional Kashmiri tea). The houseboat is deluxe, i.e. it is a richly decorated wooden piece of art. It has two spacious bedrooms with king-size beds, soft European-type (!) mattresses, one dining room, one living room and lakeside terrace. Electricity, 24-hours hot water (own boiler), mosquito nets in windows, fans in bedrooms and the common space. Comfortable bedding and traditional wooden furniture. Spotlessly clean rooms and bathrooms, which you have probably not seen in India. Internet in the family room. We can make special arrangements for long-term stays and have regular European residents (French and English speaking). We can help you with all your travel arrangements, from airport and bus station transfers, to jeep and taxi rentals, and boat trips on the lake. In particular, we recommend trips to the old town of Srinagar, Mugal gardens around the Dal Lake, shikara (boat) rides on the lake and visits to the floating market and the night market. We help you arrange transportation to mountain stations at Gulmarg, Sonmarg and Pahgram in Kashmir with trekking options. We can arrange transportation and trips to Ladakh, Manali and Jammu, and recommend you reliable travel agents in Srinagar for safe flight arrangements. It's a unique place on Dal Lake, with a mixture of European and Kashmiri atmosphere. Only here you can spend your evenings watching the boats floating on the lake, drinking Kahwa and talking to other fellow travellers. From the roof, you can observe the wild birds, boats on the lake, the surrounding mountains and the impressive Srinagar fort on top of the hill. Everyday crossing to our boat is easy - we have own shikara (crossing lake boat), and the price includes one-way passage to the shore. For getting to the houseboat from the shore, you just take one of shikara-taxis for 5 rupees only. We can also help you find accommodation for more tourists, as we own several other neighbouring boats in various price classes. Family Gousani welcomes you to enjoy the true Kashmiri hospitality in the serene landscape of the wonderful Dal Lake! ... more less
