I am visiting Kashmir after a gap of 33 years and Dar-Es-Saalam was the first port of call for us. Booked this place after going through the reviews in Tripadvisor and trust me, the reviews are 100% spot on.

It is a beautiful property overlooking the Nigeen/Nagin Lake. This is basically a house which has been converted into a hotel with about 14 rooms. Khurram Hussain is the perfect host and ever since I booked the hotel, he has always made you feel longing to be at the property.

We traveled as a family of four (two adults + two kids) and the room was big enough to accommodate us with an extra bed. We got a nice lake facing room (ask for it), the lawns in front of the hotel make for a good place to laze around and the kids to run and have fun. The food is good.

The hotel can also organize a shikara ride all the way up to Dal lake right from your doorstep as all the lakes are interconnected.

I would recommend this place highly to anyone who values good taste!

Let me mention at the very outset that this was by far the most beautiful hotel we stayed at in Kashmir, and this place exemplifies the reason Srinagar is known as being amongst the most beautiful places in India. We stayed here during the Srinagar leg of our honeymoon, and what a stay it was! This was bought by the owner's great grandfather more than a 100 years ago, and only recently converted to a hotel. The place has all the charms of a palace, right from the antiques to the beautiful upholstery, even the food is served in authentic old silver cutlery.
The view of the Nagin lake from the gardens is breathtaking. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. I can't recommend it enough! Can't think of a more romantic place than this.

this is the best hotel I stayed while my journey in Kashmir. I suggest stay there atleast 2 nights during your visit.

Few suggestions:
1. Please change the cartain of the toilet. We don't want to compromise our privacy.
2. Also please add water heater in every room. Cause it takes long to get the hot water you have to wait for 3 to 4 minuets.

(This is not the negative comment, it's just a suggestion)

Every thing else is just superbbbbbbbbbbb.....
Location is just wonderful....
Sikara ride with Farukh their own sikara boy is unforgettable......
Their food, it's too yummy and finger liking.....
I don't know what else to say.... I don't have word for them.....

Room Tip: Ask for a first floor lake view room......

One of the best kept secrets in Srinagar... Not many travel agents suggest this property...But trust me one of the best options to stay in Srinagar.... Excellent service... nice cosy rooms and great location.... The view of Nagin lake is amazing....
The food served here is excellent.... we opted for ala carte menu...... (you can tell in morning what would you like to have in lunch / dinner) and same is prepared....
Mr. Khurrum Hussian and team has done a great job in preserving the old charming look and interiors of the hotel.....
Excellent Stay.....

Room Tip: You can opt for Lake facing room... Dont take room on ground floor next to the restaurant....

A very nice and compact hotel.
Excellently kept rooms. Very good service.
Has a separate sit out area which could be used by guests.

The lake area next to the Hotel is not so clean.
Overall a wonderful stay at the Hotel though only one night !

Dar Es Salam is the only Hotel on the quieter Nagin Lake and it oozes with heritage character and charm. Only thing dissappointed us was restaurant service. There were many people but it wasnt organised and left us waiting. This was sentiment of most other guests. If they can fix this they could be an outstanding little gem of a hotel.

My wife and I did not stay in the hotel, but were instead in a nearby houseboat (where we were left alone. Service there was pretty much non-existent, but that is for another review); however, at the Hotel Dar-Es-Salam we were received with open arms each morning when we would stop by for their excellent cappuccinos. The service, especially by Mr. Abdul Hamid, was excellent: friendly, attentive, and helpful. The gardens are beautiful (even during a cold December) and the hotel itself is immaculately clean and quiet. I have no doubt that a stay at the hotel would be a delightful experience.
