All the family and friends working on the HB is avalable to help with everything booking your next step in your traver as such as visiting Srinagar.
The HB is decorated with nice Kashemir furnitures, you feel like being at home at some point.
HB is also quiet at night and in the middle of the neibourghood with great scenery on mountains and others Houses boats.
Food is typical from the area and can be on demand, tomatoes chicken was a MUST! ;)
Thanks to all this big family for our lasts days in Kashemir.

Liked best: Spending time on the roof, watching the nice scenery.
Liked least: Family is large, and privacy is sometime hard to have because people knock on our door often just to say hello, they care and are super kind instead.

I have to say its really hard to put in words what and how I felt here. It was an amazing stay and when I arrived I saw a message on a shikara (small taxi boats), it was written: Come as a guest, go as a friend. Actually I left this place as a part of the family. The people here are so friendly and you can have a really good time with them and the other people which stay here. I made a lot of good friends. Even if your not that communicative you can paddle out on the heavenly daal lake and enjoy the silence. There are thousands of activities you can do around here, like trekking day trips to temples and beautiful gardens and even to the biggest lake in asia. What ever you need or plan to do, they will help you as best as they can.
At least I can just say: If you come here to stay we might meet eachother, because I come definitely again.
THANKS

The lalarukh houseboats on lake dahl are the perfect place to sit back and relax, beautiful scenery from every direction and a laid back atmosphere day to day. A family run business and this really shows in the quality of the service both professional and extremely friendly. this gave me a chance to really get to know the locals and kashmire way of life. Food is always excellent even more so in ramadam. The family is very helpful at helping to plan further parts of your travels flights trains hotels etc. They also can organize trekking in the Himalayas from places such as narayannag don't miss out on this the mountains in Kashmir are true understated beauty.

I cannot recommend the group from lalarukh more highly.I stayed an extended period on the houseboat and loved every minute. I received exemplary service and excellent kashmiri food. The staff showed me the beauty of Kashmir and its people.I thank them whole-heartedly for this. After 5 months in India lalarukh was a godsend. Cheers Adam Blue Mountains Australia.

“An ideal retreat”

Whether you want to escape the stifling summer heat further south, fancy trekking in the worlds greatest mountain range, or simply want the experience of staying on a houseboat, which has lost none of its colonial charm, I'd urge anyone to spend some time on Lalarukh.

From your first ferry on a shikara across the Dal lake that sits in a valley encircled by the textured silhouette of the Himalayas, it's not hard to understand why some call it heaven on earth.

You'll be greeted by staff that treat you as more of a brother (or sister) than a boss. They're relaxed but attentive and diligent, feed you like a suckling pig on home cooked food, the same food they eat, and provide an endless supply of chai. One man here will tell you he 'can arrange anything for you except a woman'. The hand carved wooden boats are tastefully decorated with Kashmiri rugs and your room provides all the comforts you could need.

After a good night's sleep, it was arranged that a cousin of theirs would take me on a local's guide to Srinagar on the back, and sometimes the driving seat, of his motorbike. After having visited the old town, the Mughal gardens, a mosque that sits 35,000 people, I retired for the night and watched the sun set behind the fort that's perched on a hill from my houseboat.

Its not hard to see why people spend so long here and frequently return - I certainly plan to. I can't say I have spent a week as calming but colour- and characterful as my last. It'll remain a cherished memory and I hope to make many more there.

Location is very good and you can see a lot of eagles and mountains. Food was delicious and traditional. The staff is like family here and you feel yourself very welcome. There are beautiful places near like Naranag and Gulmarg. I did also amazing trekking in Naranag.

having spent almost 2 months here i feel iam in a position to post a review on Srinagra
and my accomodation.
Srinigra is the jewel of north India
but due to what i feel was over stated media reports has felt a disappointing
start to the season i have in no way been effected by a slight rise in the lake
which is now falling .the boat im staying on the Lalarukh one of a group of houseboats
has been a pleasure to stay on with clean bathrooms and pure Kashmir decor. All the staff and owners are friendly offering a number of activities trecks ,fishing, mountain day trips and can also arrange transport,. lodging in Leh crossing the famous Zojila pass
the food [part of my stay] has been traditional clean and healthy no Dheli belly here
so now Srinagra awaits to be dicovered or rediscovered the friendliness and wonderful
views will not disapoint
