Travelling with friends who had never really explored India, I found this hotel on the internet. Upon arrival, I was astounded to find that the photographs on their website actually matched the reality: even exceeded them.
Abishek, the owner, welcomed us with huge bonhomie and asked our requirements for our stay. These he met even to the extent that he helped me to source a computer part. This was above and beyond my usual experience with hotel concierges even at 5 star hotels!
The roof top bar and restaurant had just opened and we all spent many a happy hour there: the guys rating the new pool table as the best ever and we girls finding our salad nicoise with fresh seer fish just wonderfully crunchy and tasty. Winners all round!

The area is local. The colours and array of the local fruit, vegetables and flowers wowed us all. The most wonderful dosas I have ever eaten were to be found opposite the hotel (recommended by the fabulously ebullient maitre d' of the hotel, Rehmann) and shopping was all possible locally. A meter auto rickshaw into the commercial area of MG road and Brigade road cost under 60 rupees and that area only convinced us how right we were to have booked at 31 South Park. If you are going to Bangalore, do yourself a huge favour and book in here. Fabulous!

After 30 days travelling through India, I found this wonderful little hotel tucked away at the far end of Gandhi Bazaar. The location is ideal; the Bazaar is a quaint open-air vegetable market along a tree-lined street that is vibrant during the day and peaceful at night. The helpful, English-speaking staff will go to great pains to help you become acquainted with Bangalore, and will even assist with onward travel plans. Abi, the proprietor, works his butt off for his guests, and the truly refreshing aspect of this is he doesn't do any of it for a commission. While we were guests, he helped us hire a car to Cochin, get our camera fixed and get movie tickets!

Rooms are very clean with big beds, hot water, sattelite TV, and garden roof-top. Wireless internet now works in the little lobby. The whole place has a hybrid feel to it, like a cozy guesthouse/homestay meets a boutique hotel. Absolutely the most comfortable place we stayed in India.

Nearby is lovely Lal Bagh Botanical Gardens, and the hectic MG Road is only a 30 INR rickshaw ride away. Downstairs is a coffee shop and tasty chat (snack) parlors are next door and across the street.

Reasonable rates for all that you get. In my opinion, this hotel stands alone, as there aren't many mid-range price offerings in glitzy Bangalore. You either end up paying $300 USD a night for a business hotel, or you stay at a dump lodge for 600 INR near the bus stand. Don't miss the South Park.

Booking my stay was painless and simple, with a congenial receptionist that spoke crisp, clear English and was able to direct me to any location in the city. Even the hotel manager was very involved in aiding me when necessary. In addition, the hotel is placed in a central location in Bangalore, near malls and tourist attractions alike. All in all, an excellent hotel!
