“NOT a good place to spend time!”
Review of Hebbal lake

If you are visiting Bangalore for the first time this is not a good place to enjoy. There are better places to go. All it has is a lake, a small park, a garden (outsiders not allowed) and a few games for kids. It is slowly turning out to be lovers park as you can see a lot of couples near the lake.

If you are taking cameras be prepared to pay for taking pictures. But you can take your camera phones and tablets..etc. which is really a stupid rule. You are not allowed to take any food items inside. Not even juice. They do not have many food stalls also. Based on the entrance fee they charged I thought it would be a good place to have fun with kids. But it turned out to be a waste of money and time.

Hebbal lake is a great waterbody in north of Bangalore. Once people could walk all around the lake, but now, not even 5% of lake area is open to public. Because some people indulged in illegal activities around the lake area, easiest thing for authorities was to restrict access to public.

I got some really nice sunrise pictures in Hebbal lake. You can also do some bird watching in the area. Go early in the morning, because evening this place is flooded with couples.

No restaurants or other facilities are available nearby.

Never entered the lake premises since it is fenced everywhere, and looks like there is no space to enter the lake.

Do not get confused with this as a tourist attraction. No tourist would visit this lake. It is just like any other lake in Bangalore, and suffers the same fate as other lakes in Bangalore (barring Sankey lake which is well maintained).

I hope the government wakes up and does something about this lake. This lake can be renovated, footpaths laid around the lake, and a jogging track can be maintained. It would really benefit the people staying around that region. Also it would add some much-needed beauty to the otherwise smoke-filled Bangalore city.
