“Very good hotel next to MG Road”

Very good hotel at a very convenient location. The rooms are excellent, The South Parade Restaurant serves excellent food. For a morning walk addict like me, there is Cubbon Park very nearby. Of course my company's banglore office was also at walking distance. For shopping Brigade Road and MG Road are very near.

Enjoy the march past of the most cosmopolitan face of a Hotel named after what used to be MG Road, known as The Chancery in the days of British, MG Road still remains its old world charm, while at the same time exuding the energetic, modern spirit of India's Silicon Valley.

Its Restaurant - "South Parade" - a 24 hour global cuisine restaurant at The Chancery is recreating the flavor of a contemporary high - street , delicately blinding with the traditional English Cafe.

My recent experience at The Chancery Bangalore was very very bad. Every service of the hotel's was poor an delayed. Hotel has got good infrastructure but Staff's behaviour is not good and upto the industry level.

Hotel stay doesn't end at late checkout at 2 PM (no-extra-fee-late-checkout.) It continues until you actually leave the property at 9 PM to catch a red eye flight departing from BLR. One of the friendly staff got an Indian plug adapter for me after late checkout, so I can play with my MacBook Air and iPhone in the lobby until I leave the hotel. I didn't ask for this service - this staff willingly did so. This Chancery staff's little extra effort made a big difference, and made my stay in Bangalore a very pleasant one.

Room Tip: Chancery's cleanliness rating will be VG after they coplete the renovation.

Our recent experience at The Chancery Bangalore was very very bad. Every aspect of the hotel's service was poor. Although I had requested for a 11 am check in, I arrived post noon, yet I was made to wait for over 30 mins. The bathrooms were stained, fittings rusted and bed linen dirty. The attitude of the senior staff at the hotel was appalling. None of them were proactive or even understood the impact of gross service failure .

The service at the restaurant and quality of food was no better. The hotel was under renovation and noisy. When I made a hue and cry about the poor upkeep of the rooms, they eventually shifted me to a renovated room. The bathrooms were clean, fittings new and sheets clean. Yet, the overall service experience at the hotel was poor.

In an industry as competitive as this, am surprised that Chancery chooses to deliver such poor service and is lackadaisical about it.

Room Tip: Please ask for the renovated room as the old rooms and bathrooms are dirty

As mentioned by most of the earlier reviewers, the location is fantastic. Its situated at the entrance of Lavelle road, next to the Jewels de Paragon building. Its walking distance to all the best shopping areas in the city. With the metro purple line partially operational, its just 10 minutes to indiranagar.
I did my booking from makemytrip and got fantastic discounts as usual. The check in was smooth and took just a minute. room was clean and ready in all respects (including the sheets). The complimentary dental and shaving kit were not provided, but a call to room service ensured they was delivered promptly. The toiletries were of good quality. Our room was on the first floor and very comfortable. The AC was chilling the room and had to be turned down from 3 to 1 for the room to be comfortable. We specified that we wanted a non smoking room so there were no issues relating to smoke smell.
During the day, we could hear the workers doing renovation on upper floor rooms but it was a dull sound. The complimentary breakfast buffet at south parade was sumptuous. Everyone from the porter & doorman to restaurant staff were cheerful and welcoming.
The toilet & bath could do with some serious attention. It had a few chipped tiles and rusted shower curtain rod. Otherwise everything else was functional and clean.
All in all, perhaps the best place to stay in this area (despite the renovation)

I stayed here with my partner, and requested a double bed, non smoking with a high room. First off, the fellow at reception told me I had only booked for one person, and tried charging me for an extra person. I had my confirmation email to show that was wrong. Then we got put on the first floor, in a twin room.
That was all unfortunate that everything went wrong from the start. Perhaps just miscommunication. The only other bad thing is the room and corridors stink of mould. Really bad. And there's no control for the aircon, which is freezing.

Pros...

The staff are lovely, especially one of the porters. Young guy with moustache. The breakfast was pretty good, the location is really good, close to Brigade rd, MG road and Church Street.
I'm sure after renovations are completed, things will be on the up
