“The hotel has seen better days...”
Reviewed 19 December 2013

The Jayamahal Palace Hotel is a historic royal palace of the Rani of Gondal (Gujarat) that has been converted into a hotel and a party rental venue (actually multiple venues with several events going on simultaneously). It was beautiful when it first opened but has deteriorated over the past few years primarily due to mismanagement. The senior staff has a don't care attitude and it appears to have been abandoned by the owners/royal family. The location is superb - an oasis in the heart of the city with easy and convenient access to other parts of Bangalore. If a hotel management company like the Taj or Oberoi's were to have acquired / managed the property - it could have been a 5-star resort! The current place is 3-star at best with old facilities and that are not being maintained or invested in. The lawns could be made magical but are overgrown and unkempt. The party rental plots can bring loud crowds and chaos on some evenings. The room was a bit tired and food / restaurant very average. Customer service of the front desk and housekeeping staff was very good. Your money will be better spent at another heritage hotel.

Hi,I have been to the Jaymahal palace hotel in 1st week of December 2013.It has a lot of greenery around, very good room service but little highly priced as per the services provided. The deluxe rooms are average and their open restaurant is amazing.

Room Tip: Rooms at the Ground floor near the open garden are nice

Confortable, a huge green area that keep you out from the noise of the city. The staff is always smiling, Good the breakfast, all you want when you want... only you have to ask. I was there for business purposes and this hotel help me to reach the peace during night time... Very good

The moment i heard that Farhan Aktar was performing live on the 09th of November. I went to Jayamahal to find out which lawn. I was told that it would be the front lawn so i booked a room for me and my family with a spectacular view of the show. It was as if Farhan was performing for us. Overall a wonderful evening spent worthwhile with my family. I would however advice that the next time there is a show in Jayamahal first find out if it is the main lawn. It is more feasible to book the room instead buying expensive tickets and standing all through the show when you can easily sit in one of the balconies with a drink and watch the artist perform for you as if you were the King of Jayamahal. And who know if the artist stay in one of the suites you might even bump into your favorite artist and probably get and autograph or photo graph.

Room Tip: "Rooms facing the main lawn have the best view whether it is a performance or just peace and tr...

We enjoyed staying in this wonderful palace converted into a hotel from April 19 through 22, 2013. My friend booked and paid for 2 days stay for us through an online booking service.
There were some initial issues with the front desk not knowing about our reservation when we arrived at night, as well as the mosquito infested room they checked us into, but Mr Sandeep was very nice about it and was able to contact the manager, Mr. Joel John. Mr Joel handled the confusion regarding our reservation with aplomb and put us up in a great room. Your night porter, Mr Kumar, was gracious enough to move our luggage twice and made sure that we got an electronic insect repellant as well. The morning breakfasts with Mr Raju and the server, Mr Ananda, was also a complete joy and the meals we had were outstanding! Great omelets and delicious coffee!!
Congratulations on your excellent, service oriented staff. Their hospitality was the highlight of our stay. In addition, Jayamahal Palace’s majestic rooms, great location and beautiful grounds make for a magical stay for the leisure traveler. My son and I spent cool evenings playing football in the lawns and then having evening tea and cold coffee on the patio.

Room Tip: stay in the main building...not the Motel 6 type extension they have out back!!
