All we can do is echo all the positives already on Trip Advisor: SajHome is wonderful and certainly deserves its high rating on here. From the moment Saj's driver met us at the airport (on time and very fairly priced- do not hesitate to book this service) to the time we checked out, we could not have asked for anything more. In fact, we liked Sajhome so much we booked an extra night on our first stay and then returned ten days later for a subsequent two nights.

Saj's rooms are fairly priced, clean and homely; AC and wifi were excellent - far better than we have experienced elsewhere - and the breakfasts were amazing. (Saj offers both Keralan and Western options and both were plentiful and delicious.) But what really makes the homestay is the friendliness and helpfulness of Saj, his family and staff who cannot do enough to make you feel comfortable and happy. Saj also helped us plan the rest of our time in Kerala, arranging a fantastic houseboat trip; recommending excellent accommodation in Munnar and Periyar, and even booking our train tickets on his own credit card! He runs round taking the trouble to do this for all his guests and it makes travelling in the state completely hassle free and economical, as he is careful to recommend fairly priced options that we probably would not have found ourselves. He also arranged for us to have the best driver we have had in three months in India, Ramesh, who is such a kind, interesting, considerate and above all, safe, driver who we thoroughly recommend requesting.

Thank you so much Saj and your team - we hope to see you again in the future!

Originally only booked 3 nights here and intended to move on for the rest of my weeks stay in Fort Kochi but as soon as I arrived and met Saj I knew I had to book the rest of the week here.
Friendliest people I met in my 4 week experience of India and by far the most helpful. The breakfast was definitely a highlight, as someone who needs motivation for getting out of bed in the morning it certainly did the trick.
Saj's wealth of local knowledge, friendliness and willingness to make your trip more enjoyable in any way possible, together with the standard of rooms, location and value for money (even by Indian standards) mean I could not fault the place.

It seems that every possible superlative has been used to describe a stay at Saj's wonderful home - and rightly so. The rooms are spotlessly clean, the breakfasts are delicious and the service from Mr Saj and his staff is second to none. In fact, we chose Saj Homestay because we read in Tripadvisor about how helpful Saj is. Places to stay are ten-a- penny in Cochin, and Saj knows this. That's why he puts the emphasis on service and the personal touch. I can truly say that choosing Saj rather than any other place made our trip particularly special and allowed us to go and see places we wouldn't normally have seen and do things we wouldn't normally have done. From start to finish, Saj was there giving us tips and advice about any subject we cared to inquire about. He is also ably assisted by his daughter, Natasha, who never stops smiling and is always willing to help!
One word about his drivers. The person who criticised this service has done Saj and his drivers a major injustice. We used his drivers all over Kerala. We had EIGHT different pick-ups (including airport) and on EVERY occasion the driver was ready and waiting for us when we appeared at the pick-up point.
All in all, Saj rightly deserves his top reviews. He really is the best.

I would highly recommend this property. What a delightful family! They cannot do enough for you, and are warm and hospitable. Rooms are very comfortable and clean and safe (good for women on their own), and the property is conveniently positioned in the town. Saj is also able to organise safe and reliable and pleasant transfers and tour drivers. It feels more like staying with old family friends than staying in an hotel. Wonderful atmosphere!

Room Tip: I think A/C is a must, especially as there are lots of mosquitoes about, and it is hot, even in wint...

The staff at sajhome should tour the country doing workshops for big hotels teaching their staff how to clean and be hospitable.
On a separate note, our beds were a bit short for us but we are around 170cm tall. I would still stay there again without hesitation because it felt so safe, clean and the staff were incredibly lovely.

A beatiful homestay above a bank and ATM (!)
When we arrived, after a long train journey Saj was out but we were checked in by his delightful 12 year old daughter, Natasha. She gave us a map and a full briefing on attractions, restaurants and shopping. She also said to avoid the tourist boats and use the public ferry where a trip across to Ernakulam is a few pennies!
Standards here are high, attention to detail is everywhere, and Saj is a great host. Rooms are quiet, spacious and well furnished. Breakfast on the terrace is delightful. The location is excellent and most attractions are within a ten minute walk. Saj will recommend places to eat. Our top choices would be Oceanos (Portugese influenced) and Casalinda (Italian influenced). Personally we would not bother with the much vaunted fish restaurants near the chinese fishing nets - overpriced and nothing special.

We only spent 12 hours in Kochi - as we were heading back to Delhi for our return flight. But the little time we did spend here was great, and that was partly because of Saj and his daughter. They were lovely and really helpful - Saj even got up at 4am when we were leaving for our flight to give us some breakfast and bid us farewell. Aside from that the room and bathroom were really nice and good value. I'd definitely recommend Sajhome as a place to stay in Fort Kochi. Thanks Saj!
