“Lovely Homestay, extremely friendly owner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 June 2011

We stayed 4 nights last November. The location is great, just a 10-15 minutes walk to the old fort zone and the chinese fishernets, in a very quiet and green residential area. Much better to stay here than in the touristic Princess street area. The extremely friendy owners Sheeba and Ashley serve home-cooked keralan breakfast on the rooftop. The rooms are clean and cosy. Absolutely recommendable.

I had a fantastic stay with Sheeba and Ashley. They are the nicest couple you'll ever meet and go that extra mile for you on everything! They really make you feel like part of the family from the start.

I was meeting friends here, having travelled 6 months on my own. I feel this homestay would meet all needs- rooms are clean and spacious, delicious breakfast, advice on local sight seeing and transport, and Sheeba offers amazing cooking courses too.

I have been travelling for a long time and the Green Woods Bethlehem is by far the best place I came across so far. The owners are the most wonderful, warm, welcoming and carrying people and they make you feel at home.

There are not enough words to describe how much I recommend this place, also for families.

Before you come, make sure you got view good books in your bag. Once arrived, you don't want to leave!

Sheeba and her husband Ashley really make this place and exceptional homestay. Their warmth, genourousity and genuine hospitality shines through every aspect of their homestay. Rooms are delightful and very good value, breakfast is yummy and the roof top experience is like being in a tropical rainforest. They truly deserve their reputation and no wonder the place is so popular

I'm so sorry but we had the most awful stay at Green woods, this was not due to Sheeba and Ashley who were the nicest people but I think I have outgrown the travel vibe and want a bit more. 10 years ago I probably would have loved this place but now I wish we'd spent a little more and had a few more comforts.
I found the location a bit far from the centre of Fort cochin and was not keen at walking back in the dark and the rickshaws seemed to stop about 9ish.
The room quite dirty with a tiny bed, nylon sheets and rock hard nylon pillows.
The ceiling fan was rubbish (and it was very very hot and humid)
The breakfasts were pretty awful,I was excited about them having read other reviews but a dry banana pancake with 2 bits of dry toast did not impress me.
This is a young persons place where the budget is importent and as such I'm sure it was fine but if you are just having a short holiday of a few weeks and can afford to spend a few more pounds per night I would recommend you do so as we were quite miserable and disappointed by Green Woods.

I had a wonderful stay at green woods Bethlehem. I arrived after a long exhausting bus ride and was greeted with a huge mug of tea, snacks and a beaming smile- exactly what I needed. The rooms are beautifully furnished and the
Comfortable I've had in india. The hosts, sheeba and Ashley, are incredibly welcoming and chatty and I really felt as though i was a guest in their home. They were very accommodating and helpful in arranging extra activities, transport and giving recommendations. Yummy breakfasts are served on the awesome indiana jones style roof terrace in the middle of the jungle garden. I had a wonderful stay and it was the perfect place to relax and while away a few days.

After traveling for 3 months around the world - this place was a stand out for us. If your looking for a clean bed and bathroom, quiet room, GREAT included breakfast and a family owned guest house run by two of the sweetest people you will ever meet - Green Woods- Bethlehem is the place to be.

Upon arriving, we were greeted with big smiles and open arms from Sheeba and Ashley, the owners of the guest house. They offered us two different rooms, and as a first amongst our travels, they actually encouraged us to take the less expensive room (no AC) because they knew it was quieter and more comfortable than the AC option. This was a small but clear indication of their heart and character. And these qualities show up all over the property.

This husband and wife team run a small guest house within a 5 minute walk to the heart of Ft. Kochi. They put their heart and soul into the place and you feel it with the quaint but modest furnishings, you taste it in the food Sheeba prepares each morning and you see it in all the little things that Ashley does around the property to make you comfortable. They are also long time locals to the area and know all the best restaurants, where the best yet inexpensive Ayurvedic massage in town is (and it is!) and can give recommendations on where to go next and other good places to stay once you move on from Ft. Kochi. And most of all, they are so happy to help you in any way they can. The great thing about their place is you really feel like you are staying in a home as the place is extremely comfortable and relaxed (a rarity considering allot of what we experienced everywhere else in India).

They have a great little rooftop open air area where breakfast is served and the place is available for you for the rest of the day to hang out in, swing in the hammock, sit and read a book or look out at their trees and listen to the birds sing their songs for the day.

If you want MORE for your money than just a bed and bathroom - then come here as what they charge vs. all you get by staying in a place full of love and kind attention makes this the bargain of the century in all of India.
