Sheeba and Ashley are just wonderful - I cannot reccomend thier home enough you simply have to stay there, They treat you like one of the family and what a warm family they are - I was tempted to go and live with them permanently! Sheeba's food is incredible, the rooms are really comfortable and cute with local nick nacks decorated, when we stayed the place was full and yet you strangely felt like you had the run of the place. Simply Perfect in every way.

Lovely garden setting. An escape from the noise of India! Our hosts were very helpful in recommending a great restaurant, a Kathakali performance and arranging onward taxi travel. Breakfast was ok.

We had been staying in a hotel for about 3 times the price in Ernakulum when a rickshaw driver recommended this homestay. Sheeba and Ashley (the owners) greeted us so warmly, reserved us a room for the next night and invited us to breakfast on their roof terrace the next morning (which was fantastic because our hotel was kicking us out at 8am). We arrived the next morning to a delicious breakfast and plenty of tea. The room was so homely and very comfortable and our hosts saw to it that we were happy. We stayed 3 nights and then moved on to Munnar but later on in our trip had to stay one more night in Kochi so we rebooked. Sheeba and Ashley recognised us straight away and greeted us like old friends. We had been ill before we left and they were happy to see us with plenty of questions as they had been worried while we were away. I would recommend this homestay to absolutely anyone. We did not recieve a warmer welcome anywhere else and as well as that - breakfast on the roof was fantastic! The homestay is spotlessly clean, welcoming and very cosy. I have only good things to say about it!

When we checked into our room, we were sort of in a hurry and were just happy to have a place that had hot water. It had been a week. The rooms were quite nice and clean, very quiet at night. Two days later the couple that runs the home stay asked us to sit down with them when we came down to discuss the bill. We ended up staying and chatting for 2 hours, they were the most friendly hoteliers I've ever met. While we visited Periyar they kept our large bags for us while we traveled with our little backpacks. Sure enough when we came back we chatted for another hour or two! Just a lovely place with the best breakfast we had while in India (and by far the best morning tea).

Ashley and Sheeba gave us a very warm welcome to their home, and we immediately felt comfortable, as if we were staying at a friend's house. Our room was just that - like in a typical Indian home. This means that it wasn't luxurious - not what we expected or needed - but that it was clean and comfortable, with an Indian-style bathroom but a Western toilet. And we did have AC, though we didn't need it the first night of our stay as it rained.

The terrace is beautiful - surrounded by the greenery of the garden's treetops and complete with a hammock and tables where one can read or chat at leisure. The breakfast included Bombay toast (read: French toast), and, one morning, fresh mango juice, among other classic Western and Indian choices.

Ashley and Sheeba were available whenever we needed them and arranged for an airport pick-up and a driver to our next destination, as well as booking us (great) seats at a Kathakali performance and recommending good local restaurants.

All in all, a great place to stay and really feel at home.

Lovely homestay with the friendliest owners and staff I have experienced in a very long time. Always happy to help and give you advice on the area. Rooms are clean, secure and good value. Great breakfast served in topfloor covered dining area - complete with hammock and deckchair! Highly recommend this homestay for solo travellers.
