We spent three nights in Tea Bungalow. The room and service were excellent, and Mr Francis and his staff couldn't have been more helpful.
Some warnings, though:
. Tea Bungalow is very small, and with no alcohol, no bar, and no public areas, it's not easy to sit around
. the pool is very disappointing - not one you can swim in realistically
. food is good, but with no passing trade and few residents, we ate alone, and there was no atmosphere

So stay there for a quiet, peaceful base, within five to ten minutes walk of the Chinese nets, and a 50 rupee tuk-tuk ride to almost all Fort Kochi attractions, but don't expect the amenities of a big place. And it is quite expensive....

Room Tip: We didn't have a balcony, but the room (first floor) was large and quiet. I suspect all are different, and it would pay to ask to see them if you have a choice.

We stayed two nights in January 2014. This is a lovely hotel, excellent value for money, full of character, good location. the manager Mr Francis was very helpful as well as the young female receptionist.

We stayed two nights at the beginning of January 2014 and we so much enjoyed our stay at the Tea Bungalow. The hotel is perfectly located, walking distance from the main sights in Fort Kochi but away from the noisiest part... Ideal base from which to visit and enjoy the city. We had a lovely room with a private terrace and a huge bathroom. The service was excellent - nothing was too much trouble for Mr Francis and his team including booking for us the best table in one of the busiest restaurant in town. Yummy breakfast too. Highly recommended.

Staff very welcoming and friendly and helpful. Rooms are comfortable and traditional and bathrooms are very modern. Food good and reasonable value for money but limited menu.
Would recommend as a value for money and comfortable stay in Cochin.

Very enjoyable 4 nights spent at this charming accomodation. We arrived very late due to plane delays and were warmly greeted by Jackson who organized food after the restaurant was shut. The room was very spacious and welcoming. Steffi was very helpful in arranging the booking and taxi service for our visit to Munnar. Wifi was complimentary and the best performance we have experienced anywhere in Kerala. Thanks to Francis and the team for a great stay.
