“A real familiar atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2014

I stayed there for 3 nights. The structure is very nice and clean. I had there a dinner too, sea food based. The food is not very typical but the taste is very good because it matches the European habits.
The position is perfect. During my stay I had some problem with the air conditioning and the Wi-Fi, but the personnel worked promptly to solve the inconvenience.
The most interesting thing of the hotel is the personnel very kind and available to help you.

Room Tip: Cochin room

Highly recommend the Tea Bungalow! Clean rooms, big modern bathrooms, immaculately manicured private grounds, and great food. An oasis in the heart of the bustling Fort Kochi. The most wonderful part of my Tea Bungalow experience was the people and the great service. The team aimed to please - helping arrange excursions and doing everything they could to make our stay pleasant and comfortable. Thanks to Francis, Jackson and the rest of the team! If you visit Fort Kochi - you must stay at the Tea Bungalow!

Stayed here for 3 nights as part of a trip to India.
The hotel was converted about 3 or 4 years ago and has retailed large bedrooms and bathrooms, and many large communal areas in the main house. Really nice bathroom off the bedroom (we stayed upstairs in the ‘Galle’ room). The pool area is nice and the pool is clear and clean. We ate in the hotel 2 of the 3 nights, and the food was good. Breakfast is made to order.
The manager was attentive and checked with all residents at points during the stay if everything was ok and if not sorted any issues out there and then. I would recommend this hotel if staying in Fort Cochin. Our air conditioning stopped working a couple of times, but he did arrange for it to be repaired straight away.
Only comment about what could be improved is that outside courtyard area at the rear of the property. As in most of Fort Cochin, there are a lot of crows, and from a hygene point of view, there were a lot around in the outside tables area. Perhaps a net (like the outside café of the Brunton Boatyard) may help. The loungers/ covers for the loungers had a lot of ‘bird dirt’ on so could do with properly cleaning or replacing more often.

Room Tip: In the main building, upstairs

We stayed for 2 nights and were a little disappointed. We had stayed the night prior at Eighth Bastion which whilst more expensive, was worth every penny.

We were given a nice big room with a huge bathroom, both very clean and tasteful. Free wifi was a very welcome addition. The bed was extremely hard for my taste however - the manager on the last morning said mattress toppers were available, but this wasn't advertised anywhere, so I'm not sure how I was supposed to know this?! The aircon too was very loud, I ended up sleeping with ear plugs.

The staff seemed unenthusiastic, and the girl on front desk downright unhelpful.

The hotel itself is a little out of the way, and on foot was not easy to find using the address! The outside area needs a bit of a tidy up. The new manager approached us on our last morning and seems keen to improve things, so hopefully the value you get staying at this hotel will improve. However at the moment I felt our stay was very expensive for what we got in comparison to other places we stay in Kochi and Kerla in general.

Room Tip: We stayed in Muscat which was upstairs and off a communal "lounge" type area - this was fi...

We stayed here twice during our trip to Kerala and would gladly return to stay here again. Rooms are beautifully furnished, spacious and clean. Bathrooms are large and well designed. In both rooms we stayed in there were private outside areas to sit in that were nicely designed and shaded. The swimming pool is an added treat. Food is exceptional! We are vegetarian and were well catered for. The chef went out of his way to accommodate for some other guests who expressed a particular interest in going to buy fish locally. He went with them to but the fish and then cooked it for them. All staff are keen to help and are very attentive. We had problems with our mobile phone when we arrived. The staff took it upon themselves to sort it out. Bicycle hire, tickets to local cultural performances and probably a lot more can be arranged by the staff - all at a good price. The Tea Bungalow feels very homely. The building itself is lovely and the location is perfect for visiting Kochin.

Room Tip: Cochin room has a private balcony upstairs. One of the downstairs rooms has a small private garden f...

Handily located in the town centre - but in its own walled grounds making it a quiet location this bijou hotel has the potential to be something quite special. However, it needs money spending - we had room 'Madagascar' - next to the reception desk - it smelt heavily of wet rot when we entered and it took three visits from a helpful member of staff to finally get our A/C working. Good large rooms with high ceilings and a modern wet room bathroom. I didn't like the fact you ate in the hotel reception hall - there was a seating area outside next to the bijou pool - but this meant mozzies! (The meal by the way was very good)
This place could be something very special - imagination and money required to reach its full potential.....and please sort out the wet rot problem!

Room Tip: If you are airport bound early - don't order a pack breakfast - get a snack at the airport. Fi...

just one night but it was very good. Room was very spacious. Food at the kitchen was very good. Breakfast was great too. The only bad thing was that the AC was very noisy and couldn´t sleep with it on.
