“Nice homestay”
Reviewed 15 March 2014

We spent one week in the Maison Casero Homestay during our holidays in Fort Kochin in February 2014. We liked this homestay very much. It is near the centre of the town in a calm place under the shadow of coconut and jackfruit trees. The host family occupies the ground floor while the rooms for the guests are on the first floor. We lived in a room with a fan, A/C, TV and free Wi-Fi. Around the house there is a nice gallery with tables and chairs. We liked to get breakfast here and to relax in the evenings as well. The breakfasts were very tasty both in the Kerala and continental style. The family of Priya, Jaison and their two daughters is very friendly and attractive. We remember our stay here with a great pleasure

i am very disappointed and i will not recommend to anybody the Maison casero home stay
i did a booking from 28 02 2014
i send them an email to tell them it is possible that i will have a room a day before the 27 02 2014
i receive an email from jaison jaisonpriya@yahoo.co.in telling me it was OK
then my friends say they will like to join with me in cochin so i send a new email to jaisonpriya@yahoo.co.in
to ask him if one more room was available
i got an answer that 2 rooms will be available on 27 but for 28 02 only one room will be available
so i send an email to tell him it was OK .
On 27 after a flight and 1h 30 Mn driving to fort Cochin from the airport we did arrive
at the Maison casero home stay ( not easy to find as the car cant go inside and that there is no sigh of the home stay nowhere)
When we did arrive a Lady tell us that it was no room available and of course i start to argue with her telling her that mr jaison had confirm the 2 rooms by email
They say no room was available so mr Jaison came and he say don't worry we have room in other location
i say sorry i book room in this location and other location i don't know if i like or not ,but we wait, they say to come inside the house and to wait .
We were tired and of course i say it was not serious and how long it will take to see the room ...
then they start to say that we did not give any money to them and then they don't hold anything to us ,then i say this is not a serious business we are booking confirm by email and that we were tired to wait .
Then the man Jaison tell us ( TO GET LOST) so i tell hi that he was rude so his man wanted to fight and was hold by his wife to not fight .
I wonder how a man want to fight in front of his wife and children i wonder for him .as this man made all mistakes as he is the one who did answer and confirm all email
( i have all email that prove my saying )
To be honest i was not afraid that this man wanted to fight i was very confuse that a man who hold a business of home stay was so irresponsible with his customers and so rude
that all i have to say the fact ,so we walked away and after 20 Mn we find a very nice guest house with very nice people for half the price .
so be aware that Maison Casero is not a serious home stay and that there is a man ready to fight with you there!

They were not ready to listen to us about the arrangement .
As a responsible husband and a father it is my duty to protest against the rude behavior of this person towards my family. - GIVE RESPECT AND TAKE RESPECT.

We spent only one night in Maison Casero, but I can sincerely recommend it to everyone who is looking for a cosy atmosphere in the centre of Fort Cochin. This place is located right next to Santa Cruz Basilica, hence it's close to all attractions of Cochin, which are reachable by foot. The accomodation is fine (rather plain), especially for the price you pay, but clean and well maintained. It is ran by wonderful indian family. Our hosts were very helpful and gave us many usefull advices regarding sightseeing and also moving to our next stop after Cochin.
In a nutshell, good price, location, and helpfull people ;))

Priya and Jaison were the perfect hosts to us. Nothing was too much trouble. We arrived early in the morning and they arranged a room at another house where we could rest whilst they prepared our room. The room was spotlessly clean. Priya in particular understands exactly what her guests need in terms of advice and help. We were keen to taste a home-cooked Keralan breakfast and she cooked us a wonderful masala dosa the morning we left. We were sad to have to leave after only three days and would always go back there if we visit Cochi again.

Room Tip: I didn't hear any one complain about any of the rooms. They are all good.

We spent our last 3 days in Kerala at Maison Casera and were delighted by the of the beaten track little homestay and the lovely chatty family who made us instantly at home with cups of tea on the shared balcony watching chipmunks, woodpeckers and sunbirds. We have been left with lovely memories and would recommend this little gem to anyone.
