María is a very nice lady who really took the time to teach us how to prepare some South Indian dishes. We cooked in her kitchen and ate our tasty food! Highly recommended. José, Costa Rica!

Probably the highlight of our whole trip to India! Maria and her husband are wonderful people, very friendly and welcoming. Maria runs the cookery lesson and is a great cook and very knowledgeable. We met her the day before to discuss our menu (you make 5 dishes in total - 1 meat, 2 veg sides and a chutney/dal plus rice). It was just the two of us which was great and meant we could ask lots of questions and get hands on experience (this was one of the reasons we wanted to go with Maria as we'd heard about other classes which had 8+ people, Maria prides herself on small groups only).

There are two time slots for classes, one at 10:30 and one at 4 and they last around 1hr 30 (plus eating time!). It was 600R per person (500R if only making veg dishes) which we felt was good value for the time you get with Maria, the recipes you take away and the food itself which was delicious - make sure you come hungry as there was loads!

Make sure you bring a camera with you as Maria sets out all the ingredients (in cooking order) which is a great reminder when cooking back home and lets you take photos of all her (handwritten) recipes.

We arranged our class with Maria in person when we arrived in Fort Cochin as we couldn't get the number listed here to work.

Maria is a charming lady, terrific cook and warm hostess who took us into her home and cooked for us - and let us cook - with great generosity and attentiveness. Anyone interested in learning Indian cookery will pick up invaluable pointers from Maria. A terrific Kerala experience.

We found Maria's from trip advisor recommendations and it was a brilliant recommendation. We went to visit Maria the day before and she discussed what we would like to cook. We arrived the following day to find all the ingredients chopped and ready to do.

Maria was fantastic at explaining each ingredient and what quantities to use. She also explained the different variations we could do with each dish and in what cases you'd use larger or smaller amounts. Maria also provided us with printed sheets of each dish explaining everything we cooked.

We couldn't speak any higher of Maria's cookery school. We enjoyed spending 1:30 hours with Maria and her husband and the food was fantastic. Go see her!

Had an excellent few hours with Maria, learning how South Indian cooking works. Maria is hugely knowledgeable, and as well as teaching us many receipes, was able to advise us on what spices go with what and how to edit and adjust the receipes for other main ingredients, so that we are able to adapt and develop her receipes.
The meal we created was delicious, and Maria had chopped and prepared all of the ingredients in advance so that the focus really was on understanding, and creating, rather than any of the prep work that normally goes in to cooking. This was a really nice addition to the course, and not one I've come across in cooking courses when travelling elsewhere.
I'd really recommend this course to anyone who likes South Indian food!
