The synagogue is ok to visit. But the way to get there is quite awful due to the people trying to sell souvenirs. I would rather spend more time in Fort Kochi, relaxing along the seaside.

Great for shopping and people watching. Pop into the Ginger House for a good feed and a browse through the antique store attached - its like a museum but better because you can touch :)

Jew town transports you back in time, since it has been preserved as a heritage zone. The oldest synagogue in India can be seen here.A walk though the narrow streets acquaints the visitor with the age old homes of the Jews who were once upon a time predominant here. Most homes have now been converted into antiques & spices selling shops. But,one must have hard bargaining skills to make a worthy buy, because the quoted prices are fancy ones.Anyway,it is indeed a pleasure to walk through history & browse through the curios & knick knacks.

Go if you like history. Lot of shops . Caution while shopping. Old jewish history can be seen. Too low entrance fee. Rs. 5/- only. Inside the synagogue there are beauiful chandeliers.

A ferry ride, perfumes, coffee and cake are how I will remember this place. An idyllic afternoon walk down this lane will introduce you to not just many faces but also hidden secrets - Cafe Jew Town being one (the front of this cafe is a shop stocked with very expensive brassware that most budget travellers will shy away from from), but once you navigate the imposing decor at the entrance, you literally enter wonderland. In the heart of Cochin, I found one of my favourite designer's store - yes there is a Ritu Kumar outlet right inside this cafe! Go for a stroll or a cuppa or some shopping - you will surely find something to your heart's delight in this quaint lane:-)
