We spent 3 nights at the Brunton Boatyard and really loved it. The service and warmth of the staff was exceptional, and the best we received during our trip to India. We loved our suite and would highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Cochin. The driver supplied by the hotel, Joseph, was a real delight too.

We arrived here after travelling for 14 + hours, so not feeling at our most jaunty! The staff were wonderful and welcoming. The room was spacious and clean with a great view of the water. It was fascinating to watch all the boat traffic going past.
The hotel puts on a free 1 hour sunset boat trip in the evening and this was brilliant. The staff in both the restaurants were helpful and attentive and the food really good. My husband had a massage in the spa, which reached were other massages have not reached before!! Ha ha!!
On our last morning with them we awoke at 10am and realised we had missed breakfast. We decided to go over the road to the little restaurant (which incidentally also does good food) and on handing our key in the receptionist realised we had missed breakfast and with one quick phone call we were taken to the restaurant and a delicious breakfast was provided with a smile.
Cannot fault this hotel, really nice people too.

Fabulous hotel overlooking the backwaters of Cochin. Excellent service, wonderful food
and a lovely peaceful atmosphere. Rooms are well equipped and spacious.
Just avoid the crows that hover over the terrace hoping to pick up crumbs.

We spent 8 days in Kerala a little over a year ago. The stay in Kochi was the highlight of our trip. Our experience at the Brunton Boatyard was memorable. Staff was extremely helpful and nice, The setting of the hotel is spectacular: overseeing the Kochi port, a few hundred yards away from the Chinese fishing nets. We absolutely loved it, there is nothing negative to be said. The rooms are beautiful, the hotel is extremely well located, peaceful and quiet. A lot of the interesting sights and landmarks of Kochi can be explored strolling from the hotel. They even provide free cooking classes and free boat trips around the harbour. The staff at the kitchen is full of enthusiasm and passion to share their recipes. A place to go to and stay to experience the beauty of Kochi inside and outside of the hotel. The perfect location for one of the most interesting cities in Asia (mixture of Portuguese and Dutch influence, beautiful harbour, fantastic cuisine, oldest synagogue in Asia, most peculiar sight with 8 century old chinese fishing nets...).

What a fantastic hotel. Very much understated and underrated on TripAdvisor should be #1. As mentioned by another reviewer the architecture is fantastic and a joy. But the real pleasure, and it is a real one, is the experience of having the river traffic pass by your window/balcony. The jam packed river ferries, the tankers, the small boats. I could have sat there all day. This hotel is 5* and very comfortable but unlike many hotels in india is not clinically western, you continue to experince the pleasures of india.

This stunning hotel was one of the best things about our trip to India. We stayed for three nights recently and although the weather in Kochi was awful, the Brunton Boatyard's service, restaurants and general atmosphere more than made up for it. From the welcoming drink and cold towel to the discreet professionalism in the cafe and restaurant, the service was impeccable. The hotel has been carefully and lovingly restored and is now a glorious building with plenty of reminders of its original purpose such as the large anchor set amid the gardens, and the old nautical maps on the walls. The rooms are comfortable and spacious and all look out over the water.

We were originally going to stay elsewhere but our agent booked us here and I am so glad he did, it was a memorable and lovely stay.
