We, a family from Vienna with a 16 years old daughter, spent 3 nights at the Cochin Ballard in December 09 and did not miss anything. The rooms were large and clean, bathroom was quite nice, too. The hotel is a sort of heritage building and might have been the home of a dutch family in colonial times.

The Cochin Ballard is in walking distance (3 minutes) to the Chinese fishing nets, nice restaurants can be found easily in the surroundings of the hotel.

The travel agency of the hotel organised the transfer from the airport on arrival and a houseboat trip for us on the 22th December (very much to recommend!!) and the transfers to and from the boat. Everything worked easily and well.

We paid about 40 Euro for a double room, but consider that our trip was in peak season.

I called Densal the manger directly and was to see him waiting for me at 10 pm when I arrived at the hotel. The usual warmth and hospitality, no artificial features here, unlike other places, no one tries to impress you, the building is there to impress you with its history and its charitable ideals. i stayed three nights, during the time of monsoon and had a very pleasant stay. no doubt in my mind where i would stay on my return visits to cochin

Densal is more than a Manager in Bristow. The place is quiet and serene. I would recommend the place to any future visitors to Fort Cochin. You don't need to be worrying of being cheated in anyway if you get Densal's advice. I am still looking forward to visiting Fortcochin and staying in Ballard in the near future. The staff is very helpfull and polite. Since the hotel is owned by the Cochin diocese the staff is handpicked by the authorities concerned I trust. I personally thank the authorities of Bristow for the facilities provided and hope to enjoy more of their facilities in the coming years.
