A perfect location in Cochin, with clean and spacious rooms and a great breakfast at the cafe nearby. The best thing however was the staff, they were incredibly helpful with providing drivers to/from Cochin and general tips. Very recommended!

Room Tip: There are traffic noise from the street, but I think that is just India!

My friend and I stayed at Raintree Lodge in April for a few nights. It is a beautiful homestay in a central location, opposite the Santa Cruz Cathedral Basilica in Kochi. It is also walking distance from the Chinese Fishing Nets, Kerala Kathakali Centre and St Francis Church. It is also very easy to get a Tuk-Tuk to Mattancherry to see the Palace and Synagogue. There are excellent cafes and restaurants near the hotel, at reasonable prices.

Our room was very comfortable, with excellent AC and amenities, and a large bathroom. Our room was cleaned everyday, with complimentary water provided. The staff were also very hospitable and helpful, in suggesting what to do in Kochi as well as helping us organise transport to the train station.

There is no in house restaurant. Breakfast was a 5 minute walk at Kashi Art Cafe. It is cafe and art gallery serving delicious fresh juices and Continental breakfast.

Just what we wanted after our long flight and short stay in Cochin - spotless rooms, a/c, hot water and a kind welcome, for the money in a perfect location 5mins walk from the fishing nets and nice part of town. The staff were very helpful, kindly booking our trip onward to Alleppey and recommending local sites. Breakfast in a nice art cafe not on site but only 5mins walk away was lovely and unexpectedly substantial. We will stay again on our return x

If you are visiting Cochin this is ideal. We stayed twice. Twin room with bathroom and shower. Great aircon. Plus THE SOFTEST TOWELS ever. Friendly staff and great location for things like shopping (cheaper than Jew Town) and money exchange, massage etc, great cafes and tea shops. Just a short ride or 20 min walk to Jew town. You get breakfast voucher and eat in the lovely Kashi Art cafe. Very nice!

We stayed in Raintree Lodge for 2 nights. There was some confusion caused by the staff upon our arrival when after long journey into Kochi we have been asked to follow them to some other place, which they have referred to as 'cottage'. The room we were shown had no window and was not what we have originally booked. They insisted the actual Raintree Lodge was full but as we complained they took as back and allocated a room, which was by the reception and facing the street.

Pros:
- excellent location, in the middle of fort Kochi
- clean (by Indian standards)
- 24h presence at the reception
- hot water , good shower
- breakfast in nearby cafe ok
Cons:
- had to keep curtains closed as pedestrians could look directly into the room
- couldn't sleep due to the noise of air con/ fan in the reception area, also people passing by the reception
- no mosquito net ( and there are many mosquitoes in Kochi)
- poor English of some of the staff members + not very proactive with communication

Overall not bad for the price, I suppose the accommodation upstairs would have scored higher- the room by the reception not recommended as overlooked and noisy.
