“Great historical place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 March 2014

Good tourist spot. Almost well maintained. It has all the history of Kerala. Got a good wild life sanctuary too. Great place for a good family weekend. Also a must see place for visitors to Kerala.

“Worth a detour.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 March 2014

This is a very interesting museum just outside Cochin. When we visited it was a Saturday morning and it was quite busy although this did not detract from the visit. You climb up a lot of wide steps to get to this Hill Palace and so the views are very good on a clear day. It used to belong to a former Maharajah who was well traveled and so there is quite a collection of interesting objects that he brought home from his travels around the world. Inside there is an impressive wooden hall that used to be in a temple. Lots of gold and silver jewellry, weapons, palanquins, clothes and a gruesome cage that victims were put in and then hung out in the garden for the birds to peck them to death. The gardens are beautiful and it is a peaceful place even if busy. As is usual you have to leave your bags and cameras in a locker at the entrance which is fine as you are not allowed to take photographs.

“Dont buy a camera ticket”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 March 2014

The palace and garden are really beautiful. Don't forget to go to the backside to see even more of the garden. It is not aloud to take pictures on the inside, so don't buy the camera ticket.
