We went to Kochi as a group of friends for a destination wedding. We booked 1 x 4 BHK Penthouse and 2 x 2BHK Apartments.

The apartments themselves were spacious and well furnished albeit in with some dated and basic furniture. The beds were very comfortable but the bathrooms were very cramped. The balcony on the penthouse was spectacular and the views were amazing.

Surprisingly there was no microwave so heating up food was an issue. However, the fridge and the dishes were adequate.

The restaurant is pretty average and was a bit hit and miss. Breakfast was average too. Nothing to write home about.

But the weakest point of the whole stay was how out of the way the place was. There is only one small bakery and 2 groceries nearby. For anything else you need transportation. There are NO restaurants, shops or attractions anywhere near the hotel. Luckily we had rented a van and one of the group had rented a car.

Probably the worst part of this hotel, was the obscene rates they charged for using the in-house taxi service. From the airport to the hotel cost me Rs600. The same trip using the hotel taxi was Rs1200. I can forgive even a 50% cost difference but charging double is just plain disgusting.

Pro Tip: The hotel does not serve liquor. So we had to drive about 15 minutes to the closest shop to buy beer and bring it back. Suggest you pick some up on the way to the hotel, if you plan on having a few drinks.

Room Tip: Try to choose one on the higher floor. And if you are 4 or more people, just get the penthouse. The balcony is worth it.

We first stayed here in 2003 and now last week. The place is well kept and maintained. The apartments are well furnished and the view is breathtaking. The food and service was very good. It would be better if the kitchen was furnished with at least a microwave. Location is not ideal if you do not have your own transport.

Overall a good place for family and friends.

Room Tip: Try the top floors. The best view

The hotel is quite far off from any markets. Its very difficult to get conveyance for going to markets. So what ever little you save on rentals is wasted in conveyance. 6 persons are accomodated in each unit of 3 bedrooms. While the bed rooms are too small even to move about, the common area is huge. no amenities are provided in the kitchen. No TV sets in rooms. No carpets. No tea bags, kettle or gas stove. No iron or shoe polish. The toiletteries are of poor quality. The food quality was average. there are private occupants of flats in the building.

Room Tip: the upper storeys for better view of water front

Very big apartments, older style, great views of backwaters of Cochin and the city. My biggest issue was the bed; it was so hard I ached the next day. After two nights I moved. The other down side is the location, although perfect if this is what you want. The surrounds are lovely but I wanted to be in walkind distance of shops etc or be able to get and auto rickshaw; from Riviera, you need a taxi or own car to get around. Breakfast was so so, and other food can fluctuate between being really yummy to filling the tummy. Certainly recommend for families as a safe park located across the lane. Large high rise compound really.

Room Tip: They are all quiet but aim to get a room with a view. I was on 6th floor and had awesome views.

Riviera Suits are conveniently located, if u get the top floors the rooms have a good view of the waterfront and the bridges to the city. The suites were posh ones but are in need for a major refurbishing. The property is neat, clean and serene compound. The breakfast spread is good(payable). What is missing in the apartment style suites are kitchen equipment although they have a big sized kitchen. The only stuff it has is a fridge, no microwave, no decent utensils. getting something warmed for ur kids may need calling the staff and sending the food away for warming. Some of the suites are quite spacious, others not so.

Room Tip: top floors.
