“An average experience”

Personally for the prices one pays, the food is pretty average. The fish curry served was a disappointment.

“A very relaxing spot for dinner”
Reviewed 15 March 2014

We didn't stay at this hotel but discovered the restaurant early on in our 8 day visit to Fort Cochin. We ate there almost every night, outside by the small pool. The food was consistently good and reasonably priced. We also appreciated the really good service.

“Great atmosphere and tasty food”
Reviewed 8 March 2014

We had dinner here and enjoyed a lot of dishes with beautiful live traditional music. Yes it costs more than other restuarants in the area but we enjoyed every dish we had so didn't mind paying £60 3 courses and alcohol for 5 people.

“Gem of a restaurant”
Reviewed 6 March 2014

Whilst wandering around Cochin we decided to stop at the Koder House hotel for lunch. The hotel has a faded historic charm and offered a quiet calm restaurant in the midst of touristy Cochin centre. My husband ordered chicken korma and lemon rice and I ordered grilled king fish and vegetables. I have some dietary requirements which requires little spice and fats - the kitchen cooked my lunch to perfection and portions are not mean. This is not a cheap restaurant by local standards approx £11.00 for lunch for 2 including 2 beers, 2 lassi drinks and water. I know that local more touristy restaurants charge 50% less - but when I consider the location, service, quality of food I rate this as good value.

The service was attentive but not overbearing and we enjoyed the historical information available inside the restaurant dining room/area. We dined at Koder House on 2 occasions and wished that we had actually booked an overnight stay. If we return to Cochin we would certainly enjoy dining here again and would consider staying at this hotel as the location is very central.

“Good Food in a Historic Setting”
Reviewed 24 February 2014

My husband and I stumbled upon Koder House during a recent visit to Fort Cochin. The house has an interesting history, having once been the home of the Koder family, an illustrious Jewish family who played a role in the social history of the area. The well-maintained house is now a lovely boutique hotel and a restaurant. The food was pricey but very good and the space, which is clean and cool, is a pleasant break from a hot day in the busy Fort. For those interested in a beer with their biriyani, Koder House does serve alcohol.
