“Racist, rude, overly hyped”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014 via mobile

This is one of those restaurants which prefer non-indians. Its so sad to see the way an Indian restaurant owner treats an Indian national. The owner is paranoid most of the time, am sure you will get a glimpse of it once you walk and have a word with him.

Talking about the ambience: it's a simple, small and a descent looking restaurant.

Food: its primarily north indian, as the name suggests, and is OK compared to Cochin standards of north indian food but nowhere close to what you get in the real "North India". A dhabha in delhi would serve better food than this one.

Service: Servers are good and quick but the owner is crazy old guy, looks like he is suffering with some anti-indian mental condition. You need to get things right, uncle !

Price: moderate, 700 approx for 2

“Great Food and cheap”

the Kati Rolls here were well worth the 2nd and 3rd visit.
the lasi's here are top notch too. our own enjoyment of this place was seconded by the other repeat customers we saw here. as mentioned is priced very very reasonably for the food quality too.

“Fort Cochin's nightmare- Dhal Roti”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2014

It was not my first time to Dhal Roti but definitely my last. I happened to visit the place with family and friends. While waiting for two more friends to turn up, we decided to order for them as well just in case the kitchen closes. As one of them walked in the other was asked get out by the owner. We tried to reason with the owner, repeatedly telling him we have already ordered for food and to let our friend in but he refused saying the kitchen has closed (which made no sense since we already had the food ordered and at the table). We said it’s the kitchen that is closed not the restaurant to which he retorted "My restaurant my rules". We were trying to talk it out with him in a low voice so we do not to attract attention to our table but the owner who is quite loud, rude didn’t seem to care and kept shouting as loud as he could in spite seeing we had a child with us. We decided we had enough of the so called “delicious food” and asked him to take back the food we ordered for friends. He once again started shouting asking us to pay for the food he did not let us eat at his restaurant owing to his “peculiar rules”. The bill which was hand written had nothing more than untidy scrawling with prices against it. We told the owner we wanted to understand what was on it so that we can re check the items to which he replied, “why should you understand what is written I understand, that is enough”. Honestly his behavior is as though his customers are beggars knocking at his door for food. He has absolutely no respect for any human being. Hungry and angry we left dhal roti with a foul mood that ruined our whole day, all thanks to a totally threating, uncouth restauranter.
