Vagamon is located amidst hills, forests and bamboo groves punctuated with plantations of tea, rubber and spices including vanilla. The undulated terrains add a unique dimension. The views around are breathtaking particularly at sunset. Sparsely populated area with calm and green surroundings Vagamon is likely to emerge as a tourist hub in the near future.

The place also known as 'Scotland of Asia'! Worth visiting. Made my visit on last September. Though it was 12:00 pm in noon it was cool, chill, misty, dark and windy. The places are not much exploited hence you can enjoy the nature. There are few normal hotels over there, very cheep and excellent spicy food. Especially the non vegetarian items. All food will be served in hot and water will be served in boiled because if you kept outside more than 10-15 min it will get cool by that time. Tourist spot: Medows, suicide point and pine forest. You can still find ruins of British home(two storied) and offices(all these places are closed) but still find the ruins are hiding in bushes and trees. It actually shows its past glory period. Who ever heading to Munnar, it is very worth to visit Vagamon. Knowing its past history, added value to your visit.

Better hill station in Kerala compared to Munnar since its still gaining popularity.Munnar is overcrowded.I foresee in no time this place overtaking in tourism because of its natural beauty and many tourist places in close vicinity to see as compared to Munnar.Kursihmala can be the Christ the redeemer of Vagamon ;) Also pine forest can be a set for many horror movies ;)
I stayed @ Green Palace Resort which is 1 km from Vagamon and is an awesome place to stay at proper rates.Tourists try this place in case you need a silent and close to nature feeling in your holiday.

Almost every district in Kerala has hill stations, and what makes Vagamon different? During summer, places like Munnar and Thekkady becomes hot and humid and offer no solace from heat.Vayanad is becoming hotter every year, thanks to the fast depletion of its remaining bamboo forests. For those who are fed up with the crowds of Ooty and Kodaikanal....., Vagamon becomes a fascinating destination. I have visited the place at different times of the year and the MIST of Vagamon has never failed me till now. In the cooler months you can experience the mist even at noon time. More than any other activity, [ they are like in any other hill station], what I like most is the evenings at Green meadows. The cool breeze, the beautiful sunset and the magical mist appearing almost unexpectedly and blinding us all for a few minutes before it recedes.......Its a unique experience. Just the sight of the bald hills gives me an urge to run up to the top, with my kids trying vainly to catch up with me. I never get tired of running up and down from one hill to another and sometimes rolling down or doing a somersault. For those who want some activity can try the 'Vagamon hide out' or other resorts which offer trekking and boating within their premises. SUMMER SANDS Hotel near Pine Forest offers good buffet lunch, but other eating options are limited to small tea shops, as far as I know. All in all a 'cool' destination.
