“VAGAMON”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2014

Vagamon is a hill station located in Kottayam-Idukki border of Kottayam district of Kerala, India. It has a cool climate with the temperature between 10 and 23 °C during a summer midday. It is situated 1,100 metres above sea level. Vagamon was discovered by the British who found the place ideal for tea plantations and they were followed by Christian missionaries who built their abode of service at Kurisumala in Vagamon.

Good drive, lots of places to visit.

“Nice place for one day trip”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2014

I personally like to travel very much. If you are staying in Ernakulam/ Angamaly, Chalakudy/ Thrissur , Vagamon is only 100 or 120 Kms from these places.

Its a clean place where you can find small resorts in less tariffs.
Find masco Tea factory where you can find many resorts for less than 2000 Rs. rent for one day (not 12- 12).

“Plunge into the Green Lushness of Sloppy Hills”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2014

Many Say it is Scotland of India and as NGT says Must Visit 50 destinations. But let me guide you all enthusiastic nature lovers to how and when to visit vagamon. Its.Its known as a hill station or high altitude area, but the temperature may not be so favorable round the year. My advise please do not try to visit this place in the summers esp late Feb to May end as the thermometer tops up to max 32-33 Celsius with sun so bright . Best time to visit is either during the monsoon or just before winter sets in preferably in November or December. Monsoon rains has a romantic touch to this place as it drizzles like a snow fall and is a breath taking view to see the hills so green during the monsoon. How to reach there ? if you are travelling by your own vehicle i will say Kottayam to Pala to Theekkoi to Vagamon is the best route as Its both adventurous and most scenic beauty route to reach vagamon. All those bikers out there, this is the ride for you. Do not expect high quality food there as Hotels are less and provide local cuisines. As for stay there are few resorts to be pre booked. There is a Monastry nearby called Kurishumala Ashram where u can visit the diary unit and the serene surroundings. Other than that there is not much sight seeing there except for a small check dam in Vagamon. It will be a worth wile Bike/ Car trip. Also try to get into the Local Toddy parlor en route and try the Special Botty food as it is worth mentioning. Overall its a worth visit if u are a nature lover and enjoy the abundance of greenness.

“Vagamon...”

Vagamon is a cool place...The main attraction is the hillocks and pine forests...can walk up to top of hillock and can enjoy view from the top...will get a nice drive from thodupuzha to vagamon via kanjar..iyou can take many pit stops and take nice snaps...On d way u vl find sign board towards ilaveezhapoonchira vch is a very good place to watch sunrise and sunset..but there has been occurence of deaths by lightening in this place..so ask the locals whether it is safe to go up there...if you are looking for an economical accomodation you can go to Padmalayam which is around 2-3 kms from vagamon centre....They charged us around Rs 3000 for 3 rooms...you vl get many tasty home made chocolates in vagamon...you can carry hot drinks wid you as you may not find any wine shop there...you can end the trip after a visit to parunthumpara ( 30 kms from vagamon ) and if u can go up to the edge of the rock, you can get a mountain dew 'dar ke aage jeet hai ' feeling...
