“Still good, but showing signs of age”
Reviewed 13 October 2013

I have stayed at Calicut Towers on and off several times in the last 15 years, and this time too, I found the stay very reasonable given the cost.

Calicut Towers is a well-known hotel located on Mavoor road, adjacent to the private bus station, and is very well known. It is not an upmarket place, but offers good value for money. The rooms are clean and so are the toilets. The furnishings are a bit sparse. The food at this hotel is good and it is well-known for Malabar non-veg dishes. The room service was also quick.

On the negative side, the hotel is showing signs of age. The rooms are not modern in any sense. The lift is slow. There doesn't seem to be wifi available.

On the whole, the hotel did not disappoint, but perhaps if some renovation was done, it wouldn't feel somewhat behind times.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room

My friend had booked the room for me in Asma Tower, as it was his wedding the next day.
The hotel is in the heart of the city.Though a bit difficult to see it from the main road, (keeping a lighted board of something will be much helpful to locate) once you get into the premises, it is very spacious with a vast parking area and the ambiance is also very good.
From the moment we entered the lobby we got a warm welcome, the staff are very courteous and helpful, especially the front desk guys.
A/c Executive Room has been blocked for us, it was very spacious with a super king size bed, room was clean and well maintained including the bathroom. We had a very good sleep, it wasn't at all felt that we were away from our home, there was a homely feeling, as for the next day function,a good sleep was very important otherwise the day would have been spoiled.
The next day we had our complimentary breakfast from the restaurant, and it was very nice with a verity of items to choose, and a really beautiful restaurant named "MEZBAN".
one thing we have decided that whenever we are coming to calicut, we will directly come to Asma Tower whether it is for stay or for food, this hotel is a combination of both, and we can proudly recommend to our family and friends too.
"HAD A GREAT TIME, THOUGH A SHORT PERIOD"

I had taken a room for my friend here 8 months ago , due to unavailability of rooms elsewhere in decent places... I knew the Restraunt down were we get good biryani and poor service .... But I ws surprised to find the hotel worst... Obvious distinction between Arabs and Indians !!!!!! I mean we would not get rooms in certain floors even though empty ... The room offered was pathetic , cleanliness poor, service pathetic , attitude of staff is worst.. Only location is decent... And donot go by the looks of facade and lobby of hotel .. It's deceiving ... I personally would never recommend unless like I said " you wanna feel like you are on budget but still throw money...

Stayed here for two days. In a A/c room. Had a comfortable stay. All the rooms however do not seem to be equally well kept. So depends on your luck as to which one you get.The stay, the staff, the housekeeping, the buffet breakfast and the room service did not give any scope for complaints. There was running hot water. The buffet breakfast has a good spread. This is so if you reach it before 8 AM. Centrally located and easy to get around.
The cable connection and the tv leaves a lot to be desired. It is so grainy that more than half of the channels cannot be viewed. The hotel is however badly in need of an overhaul, there is a musty old smell, the taps are leaky or difficult to close and the tiles nearing replacement conditions.
A good choice if you are looking for a reasonably good hotel at budget rates in Calicut

The rooms are clean and friendly staff. Food is awesome. The hotel has good parking space and there are shops around to shop for local items. Breakfast is part of the deal and starts at 7am.
Stayed here for two nights and had a peaceful time. The Television and cable connection could have been better.
Room service is good and the food was excellent.

We booked a deluxe AC room and it was very large and the bathroom looked new and had an excellent shower. The buffet breakfast was one of our best meals in Kerala and we had a really good lunch too. The hotel is in a good location, surrounded by shops, banks and restaurants and an easy auto-rickshaw ride to most places. It's also opposite a hotel with a bar!
