I had a such a lovely time staying at Krishna-Leela that after spending 3 nights there, I wished I could stay longer. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, bathroom was spacious, modern and had solar water heating system. There was a seperate area just between the bathroom and bedroom with a full length mirror and steel almirah with keys.
The two guestrooms are located on the first floor whereas the owners live on the ground floor. The first floor also has some really nice common areas including a kitchen with microwave, fridge, gas-stove, a spacious balcony looking out into the greens, a living and dining room with a TV. There is an independent entry/exit gate available for the guests. What more can one ask for ?
The hosts were very helpful and gracious and provided me with non-stop wi-fi facility in order to help me complete some of my writing assignments. But leaving all this aside, the best part of the stay was that it really felt like "home". We had such a nice time talking to the owners during our breakfasts and dinners and within a short time, I felt they had become our friends. We shared our lives with each other and discussed everything under the sun. The authentic Kerala food served was so so good that I know I am not going to forget in a long time. Everyday, we were treated with new local delicacies and carefully explained the name and details of it by Nayana. She even shared her recipes with me.
Calicut is very often used as transit point due to its international airport or major rail station, but I suggest everyone to stay here longer and specially at this real family-run homestay (unlike guesthouses which run all over Kochi in the name of homestays). Calicut has many things to see and do and one should not miss the opportunity of savouring real Kerala hospitality. Loved it here and will definitely be back !
