Spending a couple of weeks in india, this was obviously the best surprise we had.
We booked 3 nights, and decided to spend a fourth.
The hotel / homestay is just remarkable, with a wonderful view from our room (all room i think) on the forest / jungle.
Easy to get in the city, but just far enough not to have any noise at night.
Clean, nice looking (all wooden rooms), cool and kind of antique style.
Perfectly located for activities (national park, outdoors activities, walking in the village or small shopping).

And not to forget the kind people working / in charge of this place that are always ready to share experience and give advise on what do to.

A perfect / no risk choice

Room Tip: Ask for a room with view on the forest

we were so happy with our stay here - the rooms were clean and well furnished, with spacious bathroom and our own private balcony overlooking the reserve next door.
The family were so friendly and helpful giving us great tips and organising day trips for us.
we only ate once at the guesthouse - breakfast on the last day - it was delicious and made us wish we had eaten there more often.
It is more expensive than some of the cheaper guesthouses but it is well worth it as you can't beat walking up and sitting on the balcony to watch wild boar, birds and other creatures wondering around in the field.
Also they have a tower which you can climb at night and look out for wild bison and elephants.... such a magical nature spot - one of the highlights of our South Indian trip.

Great location, away from the main road and overlooking the Periwar Reserve.

We couldn't beleve our luck in getting such a good place to stay.

Our three sided verander overlooked a meadow surounded by jungle on three sides. From our swing seats we saw wild boar, barking deer (rutting!), bison, a mongoose, kingfishers and numerous waders. This was more than we saw in all our time in the reserve, the entrance to which is about 150m from the Meadow View. It almost felt that I'd paid £3K for one of those Kunio treehouse trips.

It had all the benefits of staying inside the sanctuary but without any of the negatives (price/6pm curfew).

Tours arranged through them were delivered well.

We only ate breakfast there once. It was adequate.

The room was large and well worth the cost. Mozzie screens in windows and a good net meant we had no problems with those blighters in Kumily.

Staying here was one of many highlights of our trip to India and would not hesitate to reccomend it to my freinds.

Room Tip: I stayed in the top room of the tower. Floors below maybe better if you are a serious birdwatcher or want to get a better angle with an SLR.

Came to Meadow view on a recommendation from a friend and was not disappointed! Spotted the sign off the main road a few hundred yards from the entrance to the wildlife park and was welcomed into a well kept front garden/cafe area by the owner Sateesh. The room was basic but lovely, clean and equipped with a mosquito net. Had a fine bathroom with western toilet and slowly-warm shower. Each room has a balcony which lends itself to much time spent exploring the wildlife and views of Periyar, and whilst we had the (cheap but great value) ground floor room, we could escape for even better views from the balcony upstairs, where the owner would happily share his knowledge and help us identify animals and birds alike. We were looked after throughout by all members of the family so much so that we spent more time in the cafe enjoying the views and fine service rather than spending cash on the tours seeing the same wildlife we could experience from the comfort of the balconies. Sad to leave!
