Beautiful property. Great rooms and setting. Very spacious with all modern amenities . Only one restaurant though. Also you have to walk a bit from the reception to get to your rooms. Nice swimming pool . There is also a Table Tennis board.

I stayed for only a single day at this resort so this review might be a little harsh but want to share my experience. The staff was a little aloof and mechanical. On reception got the usual "this is complementary and this isn't, beware of monkeys or they might steal the non complementary stuff and I will have to pay for it" stuff. It might have been ok had they been more friendly with these lines rather than uttering it like they were doing you a favor. The rooms were fine and don't worry abt the cleanliness, I didn't face any problems of unclean towels or rooms. I read some other reviews complaining abt the buffet system but during my stay at least lunch and dinner was a la carte. However the food quality was not upto the mark, service was slow and my wife left the restaurant only half full. Overall it was my least enjoyable stay in kerala. Hope it was just a one off thing.

ABAD Green Forest Resort might be the most conveniently located property in Thekkady, which makes it the most suitable.Located very close to the center of the town, the resort is a huge and quite peaceful. It is very much isolated from the hullabaloo of the town.

We arrived here from Munnar and we did not have to ask around much to locate the place. We were promptly shown to our rooms. We had booked a jungle cottage and a room but to our pleasant surprise, the room was upgraded to another jungle cottage free of charge! There couldn't have been a better welcome for us.

The cottages were clean and pretty decent in size. We also had an attached balcony though the view wasn't very exciting, nonetheless, it was a good place to sit and sip some hot coffee.
The bathrooms, though huge and clean, looked a bit tired. The resort also has a swimming pool of a decent size. The pool was pretty clean and looked tempting. I wish I had more time to enjoy an evening by the pool side.

Thekkady is known for its spices and my mother was pretty excited about visiting the spice market. The spice market is a couple of minutes walk from the resort. On a side note, make sure your bargaining skills are sharp and you visit multiple counters before deciding on the place you want to buy the spices from.

We stayed at the resort for only a day but it was a very peaceful one. There is a memoir/gift shop located inside the resort with the pretty good collection. The hotel also offers spa services though I think it would be cheaper if you looked for a spa around the hotel. The resort also arranges for a jeep safari that takes you to a few suggested tourist spots around Thekkady, though it was a tad too expensive. You might want to use this option in case you don't want to haggle with the local taxi service providers.

The resort arranges for tickets to the Periyar boat cruise at Rs. 750 per head. The tickets cost much lesser if you were to go to the sanctuary and buy them yourselves, but it would mean a wait in the queue for almost an hour and that too very early in the morning if you wanted to catch the first cruise. The sanctuary is just a couple of kilometers away from the resort, which makes it pretty convenient to catch the early morning cruise.

There are a couple of Kathakali and Kalarayipattu academies right infront the resort. You 'must' visit them once to see these art forms. Both the academies organize the shows during the evenings and its a good way to spend time. The artists make sure that it more of an interactive event and are more than happy to stand with the audience for a photo after the show.

Our stay included breakfast which was a pretty decent spread. My family loved the spread, especially the south indian dishes. This would be a good place to try the dishes once.

On the whole, the stay was lovely and I look forward to stay here some other time in the future.

A special note for the staff - really helpful and not the least bit pushy.

Room Tip: Choose the Jungle cottage rooms for the best experience.

Was suggested by a local acquaintance Mr. Sarindas (www.exploreperiyar.com), who I had contacted over the internet. A property that is very much near the town centre, but still very serene and calm when you get inside. Its well-maintained, clean & has well-trained service staff. A small pool is a nice getaway, especially during the heat and a spa, a welcome break. Hopefully they add a gym in the future. A small cosy multi-cuisine restaurant serves you a mixture of ethnic Kerala food while also providing you the comforts of othe South & North Indian food. Rooms are well-maintained and comfortable, though keeping the windows open is not advisable due to a large number of Black monkeys hovering around the property at all times. I hope they accept my suggestion of adding mosquito nets to the doors & windows. Overall a property that I enjoyed staying in with my family, Thanks Binoo G. & others for everything during our stay & Bitesh for promptly handling reservations.

Room Tip: All rooms have good views; however preferable to get rooms at the very fag end of the resort for goo...

I stayed there for a day with my family and found the room alloted to us very spacious and clean and with lovely personal verandah attached. Even though i was informed to keep the verandah door closed at all times due to pesky monkeys, I did not spot any during my stay. They have a nice pool, a spa and their breakfast buffet has a great spread.

The only drawback was no room service except for snacks and their buffet for lunch and dinner was priced @Rs.400/- per head which i found not value for money, especially if travelling with family. The hotel is placed strategically near the main market and you have to keep alert or you might just miss the hotel, like we did :)

The front office staff/resort manager were especially very helpful and went out of their way to introduce and also arrange for us to see the sights of Thekkady. They has a play area for children, a plus point if you have small kids. Not much to see in Thekkady but a day stay is definitely recommended.

You have a choice of eating out, but limited options there too.

I came here for a one day stay with my friends. The rooms given were not really spacious, but the overall quality was above average.

It is important to keep the balcony closed always as the monkeys come right into the rooms!! Thats a nice experience.

The breakfast here is really good. And then there is a nice pool. I would recommend this for a family stay, but be prepared for the price!!
