We stayed 2 nights at the Aanavilasam, and it was worth every penny spend. The owner Mr Salim, the hostess Mrs Paxton, the manager Mr Shamir , the house keeping and the cook all ensured that our stay was nothing short of perfect. The rooms are emaculately clean, are not air conditioned and have no TV. But this is what adds to the charm of the place. The rooms are nestled in the greens of the plantation house and ensure 'OXYGEN POISONING' and the clean cool air really refreshes you. The food is limited in variety but is delicious. Everything about the Aanavilasam has freshness associated with it. All your requirements are keenly attended to by Mrs Pirrko Paxton. This place is highly recommended for people who want to unwind and have a couple of laid back days. They do not serve alcohol but do not mind in guests having alcohol in their rooms. We would definitely visit again. Kudos to the Aanavilasam team!!!

Room Tip: The pool villas are the best and have a small dip pool. However the rooms are not given to people traveling with kids. The next best option would be the suite rooms.

really quite wonderful. Great room - we had one with a pool - outstanding staff & service, great breakfast and dinner. A couple of things that come with the territory but you should pay attention to. First, they don't have a license so make sure you bring a bottle or two ... or try their quite excellent cardomum lassi. Secondly, it's quite a distance from anywhere, so make sure you get a decent car for the journey out there. And finally it is out in the sticks so be prepared to do a lot of relaxing. They're not criticisms, just observations to help you make the most of your stay ... which you should arrange at the earliest opportunity. We loved it.

Room Tip: just choose a room - they're all excellent!

Am late for the review……very late….but better late then Never…..Our stay (Feb 2013-) at the Resort was Two Nights……and i really really wish could have stayed more. The Resort Manager gave us a very warm welcome…We stayed in the Pool Villa the view from the room and overall resort view of the plantation was both excellent. The room and pool was clean and super quick room service. The bathroom again was huge and although roofed over was open to the outside. It again was beautifully designed and a pleasure to use and the pad of stone amid pebbles in the shower area gave a relaxing experience to the foot. In my hubby's view the shower area was bit small.Entrance to the pool area from the bathroom as well as the room was a plus point.

Being a vegetarian I must say the veg- food taste and aroma both were super excellent as compared to our entire Kerala experience.Personalised touch to the Dinning /Restaurant Area was a cherry on the Cake. Interaction with the chef Mr Krishna made us realised that we were the only vegetarian- north Indian guest during our stay and special care was taken to suit our preferences/taste. The Phulkas were awesome and desserts(eggless -for us) yum….mouth watering experience even while writing this .Farm freshness to the food was an added feature and service personalised step by step serving at your table was super efficient. Not to forget the resort as an awesome relaxing touch

Special personalised attention is the key feature of this place. Our stay had valentines day as one tot the day's on the request of my hubby our room was decorated with all natural available leaves and flowers in the plantation which was the most natural and heart touching experience.

The stay at this Resort was "A home away form Home" experience and the best memory of our 12 days Honeymoon trip to Kerala.

Thank u

Looking at many reviews of this hotel we noticed a common theme, with many visitors commenting that they would have liked to have spent more than one night here. We spent two nights, and it was still not enough.

With just six rooms it will never be crowded, but as we were there in the low season on one night we were one of two couples staying, and on the other we were there in solitary splendour. In fact Pirkko and her niece sat with us at dinner on this second night and we gained a much better understanding of the future plans for the hotel.

The pool room we were in was absolutely brilliant, although the pool, even in this hot month, was a little chilly. Every aspect of the hotel and room was faultless, and the staff were always attentive and all worked to ensure our stay was perfect.

As a side point, our driver seemed to have a strong preference for one particular spice garden, however Pirkko suggested Abraham's Spice garden as a better option, and she was right. This, together with the tour of the plantation Aanavilasam sits in given to us by the plantation manager, means we now have a much better understanding and appreciation of many spices. We will in fact now look very differently at the Cardamon in our pantry. It is these small memories which will remain with us in the future.

Room Tip: Pool rooms are away from the main building and give you complete privacy.
