The hotel was cool with all ammenities...exceptionally clean with beautiful kerala style architecture...brightly lit, nice location in front of beautiful bamboo gardens..service was good..so many beautiful paintings of ravi verma everywhere in the building..but too many monkeys in the surroundings.keep your balcony and windows closed.....didn like the breakfast though....entirely customized for foreign tourists...Indians will find it "pheekha".....i suggest u to eat out instead....overall...good and comfortable stay..

2 days in this hotel and you knew it was going to be a hard time to let go. Less than a km away from the Periyar Tiger reserve gate, close to the Kairali and Kathakali centre this place is awesome. The decor of the hotel is fantastic, wooden logs, feels like right in the middle of the jungle. We had a Wildview room and needless to say it was a fantastic view. The balcony opened into a vast field where animals roamed around in the morning and evening. Deers were a common sight. You could also see the boundary of the Forest reserve from the balcony. The room that we stayed in was great, wooden stuff, brilliantly designed. Very clean and chic. There are a lot of restaurants nearby including local hotels (small ones) which provide tasty food. Not so much a Kathakali fan (though my wife enjoyed), we enjoyed every minute of the Kairali (a form of Martial arts). Take the boat ride later into the afternoon and explore the animals at close proximity...You may be even lucky to spot a tiger. Dont go for the sight seeing that the folks near the Kairali centre suggest, thats a rip off...just pointless travel in a jeep. Overall a great experience with the wild.

Room Tip: Always select the Wildview or better rooms

Good :
Hotel location is very good, with periyar forest reserve, martial arts , kathakally and kerela massage parlour very nearby to it.
Good food options are also available very nearby.

Bad:
Hotel is pretty old.
Rooms are clean but does not have good ambiance.

The best part of this hotel is its location - less than a km from the Periyar forest reserve gate allowing you to be ahead in the early morning queues, 2min walking distance from the martial arts, kathakali and the elephant ride venues. Plus you get to venture out to pure vegetarian restaurants very nearby if you have any inhibitions with the multi-cuisine restaurant at the hotel itself. The row of palm trees arching over the front facade of the hotel is worth capturing as a pic.The staff is very courteous and helpful. Managed to get pure veg dishes through the room service that too without onion and garlic, and if in the morning you are in a hurry to rush to Alleppey/Kumarakom for check-in to the houseboats, the restaurant staff will pack the complimentary breakfast for you. Rooms are decent and clean with continuous hot water options. Doors to the balcony are provided with wire mesh as a protection against the monkeys.

Room Tip: Since you would be busy with outdoor activities and spend only the night at the room, any would do
