“Great place in a peaceful environment”
Reviewed 20 February 2014 via mobile

Nice home stay for whole family, the jungle is just over the fence. You wake up to bird symphony in the morning, get visited by monkeys in the middle of the day. The main town is just 10 minutes walk away in that way you are near to shops and restaurants but not in the middle of the storm.
Very nice family accommodating you here, helpful. Contact to Ajumal +919447611846, www.periyartigertrailbooking.com
500-700 rupees a night for a double room. The host arranges easily forest programs, tours in the Periyar Tiger Reserve.

Nice welcoming offering coffee or tea. Helpful and kind hosts. Simple rooms with ceiling fan, bathroom and balconies. Free wifi.
Power went out at evening time but was always fixed as quick as possible. Wifi also going out with the electricity but the hosts were very willing to help.
Did a full day border trekking in the sanctuary. Don't expect to see any animals(at least youte lucky if you do) although just the walk an the spectacular views made it well worth the money.
Breakfast and lunch includes a lot of white bread so if you're not very into that a good advice is to bring some snacks.

My wife and I stayed at Jungle Paradiso for two nights (last November) and we really loved the place. Ajumal (the owner) was very accommodating, his wife made very tasty cinnamon tea, and their two sons were helped us fill out the check-in forms.

The house was about a 5-10 minute walk to the bus station near the Munnar-Kumily Highway and Kollam-Theni Highway intersection. The rates were the best we encountered in Kumily. The rooms were great. WiFi access is reliable, fast, and the signal strength was excellent in the room.

We would love to visit another time and would definitely stay at Jungle Paradiso again.

Room Tip: Make sure the doors and windows are closed securely unless you want monkeys to get in.

Was a great suprise (and very good suprise)to meet Ajumal after getting of the bus and to find this comfortable and quiet place, nearby the forest, enjoying the naughty monkeys.
Ajumal 09447611846 (mobile number)who is the owner, let you know about everything you need, or everything to do in Periyar (Tiger reserve, surrounding Periyar...). How to spend few days here take it easy, relaxing, enjoying clean and quiet place and the beautiful breakfast of Ajumal's wife.
Less than 10 min from the bus station, very conveniente owner who also works for the Periyar reserve as a guide, making everything to give the feeling you are like home. You feel free to do and choose what you want. "Mi casa es su casa", tu es ici chez toi !!!
Definitly to recommand.
Vincent. France.

We found this place through Ajumal, who was waiting at the bus station when we arrived. The homestay is very near to the centre of Kumily (7 minutes walk or R20 in a tuk-tuk) but far enough away from the hussle of the town centre to give us a quiet night's sleep. If you want to arrange travel in advance, you can contact Ajumal on his email address at jungleparadiso@yahoo.com.

Ajumal works for the Periyar Park Authority and has a lot of information about what is on offer in the park. He explained everything available to us when we arrived but there was no pressure to sign up for anything, he just provided information and left us to choose what we wanted to do.

The room was very clean when we arrived, hot water and wifi are available on request. Ajumal is a lucky man - he has a lovely family and two very entertaining young sons. everything we wanted to do he arranged for us in advance, even arranging tuk-tuks to take us where we wanted to go.

The elephant ride, including bathing and feeding the elephants and some beautiful views into Tamil Nadu, is very much recommended - a truly memorable experience. The bamboo rafting and forest walk day trip was also very good - I saw elephants, bison, Malabar giant squirrel, many birds, warthog and lots of monkeys. There is not much shelter in the forest so take a hat and strong sunscreen. You also need good shoes and long trousers. Walking is not too difficult even for someone with my poor fitness!

Ajumal's wife cooks a fine Keralan breakfast if you want to eat at the homestay and can also arrange laundry service.

I would very much recommend people to stay at Jungle Paradiso, the only thing I wanted at the end of my stay there was to stay for longer.

Room Tip: we stayed in the left hand room facing the forest. it was great to have a view straight out over the...

This is a good value home-stay, run by a lovely family. It backs onto the jungle and is in a nice and relatively peaceful neighborhood not far from town.
The free Wi-fi is good and the rooms are clean. Being a lone traveller I felt safe and relaxed, though it's unlikely you'll meet any many others travelers...this may be a good or bad thing...
