The rooms were beautiful, but they were let down by the extremely noisy location. There are much better options elsewhere in town.

Nonetheless, if you do want to stay, they do have a lovely balcony in one of the front rooms. The bathroom is shared and the shower is not hot, but if you shower during the day it's ok, as it would be warm enough to bear the cold water.

The doors on the rooms are beautiful and furnishing is nice. For 400 rupees it was a pretty good room.

Free wifi but it's a poor connection.

The wife was friendly, but it's hardly a homestay. There is no option to eat with them and you feel completely seperate from the family home. We weren't welcomed much, but when we had questions she was happy to help.

After some harrowing nights at a number of places that promised to be something other than they were, our stay at Mickey's was like heaven on earth. (We had to use our "safety" sleeping bags a number of times on our trip – but not at Mickey's!) Clean and comfortable, and Sujatha was incredibly hospitable. We would stay there again, without a doubt.

Me and my wife spent 3 nights at Mickey and where not so impressed,
First day we saw monkey excrement on the terasse and tought it will be cleaned but 3 days after it was still there.
Location is good, but there are so many other places on that street, that I recommend to visit the other before going there.
Overall it is ok, but the room we had was not so clean even for India standard. (We spent 3 months in India so we seen many rooms)!
I am not saing not to stay there but other places might worth a look even if they are not in the guides!

Room Tip: Look for other places around before booking

Mickeys Homestay is a very nice and comfortable homestay. The owners are very hospital. It´s located in a quiet neighborhood near to the main road of Kumily. We had the garden cottage, which is equipped with a european styled bath(hot water),TV and mosqitonet. You can sit on the little terrace in the small backyard garden and enjoy some wildlife, like wild boars and many birds.

(Stayed in JAN 2011)

When travelling with a friend last year we stumbled across this place after reading a review in our 'travel bible' (Lonely Planet). The owners couldn't of been more welcoming, helping us organize our trip into the Wildlife Park which was fantastic. We had the room which you see if numerous pictures that faces the coffee plantation with a cosy bamboo chair on the balcony. the whole place really is surrounded by greenery which is welcoming after the hectic and concrete cities that seem to crowd India. To be honest the room wasn't cheap and the shower was cold but to be honest that didn't matter. After having three months in India what I found to be one of the most important things is a safe and welcoming place to leave your items and to come back to when everything can get a bit too much....which it can! The only thing that is stopping me from giving this place 5* is that the the Owners were quite forceful when getting us to organise activities in the Wildlife park, other than that great place!

Spent a week at Mickey's after staying three nights at the Periyar House in the park.
Had the front room with the balcony. Lots of birds and naughty monkeys to watch in amongst the coffee plants. Loved the great value, family ambience, the short walk to restaurants and services. Sujatha suggested some touristy things to do (elephant ride, spice farm, etc) and gave us easy to follow directions so we could do it all on our own. Very relaxing, clean and friendly. I just wish she did breakfasts, as the aromas coming from her kitchen drove me mad every day!

Room Tip: get the balcony if possible.
