Dear friend
Kerala classical dance drama Kathakali should be performance in not big stage for greater ambiance as per rules. If you never seen in Munnar also...how can you hope good or bad?

“excellent show”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 June 2014

the show was very well done. the flow was good. the musician and the singer deliberated very well. costumes are so gorgeous. the other audiences must learn how to respect by remaining silence and do not walk in & out while the performance is going on.

“Awesome Performance”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2014

An hour of sheer excitement. As we waited in anticipation of whats to come, it starts with the dressing of the main character (later explained as all main characters have their faces painted in Green). This was followed by the 1st part, wherein a detailed explanation of Katha-Kali (literally translated as Story Play), the origins, postures / hand gestures (24 mudras) and facial expressions (eyes & mouth/lips). The 2nd part of ½-hour is a short play from some mythical past (in our case 'Narakasuravadham' by Prince Jayanta, son of Indra). The voiceover gives you a complete English version of the skit prior to the commencement, which makes it very easy for the audience to understand the skit. All and all a very interesting and mesmerizing performances by the artists. Wish they have longer duration plays. One should not use camera flash during the skit as it inconveniences the artists. Preferable to book tickets well in advance to get front row seats. Reach around 45 minutes prior to the show to see the actors getting dressed; however by then they would have finished their make-up anyways. They take 2½-3 hours to get dressed. Last, but not the least, do not forget to make contributions / donations, however small or large. I guess that goes a long way. Highlight of the show is the female character, who's eye movements are....i'm at a loss of words.
