“Just Okay”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 February 2014

Chose this place due to ample parking place as the other restaurants are on the roadside and don't have any place to park. But was highly disappointed. Dad ordered a Kerala meal (thali) with a fish masala and Mom ordered Noodles with chilly chicken. The thalli was okay with limited curries, but the fish was a big disappointment. The masala was too overpowering, even for us as Indians. And the noodles were swimming in loads of oil. Also the chicken seemed stale_was very dry and hard. Not good at all. But the staff are very courteous.

“Very tasty food, and very reasonably priced.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 January 2014

To look at it from the outside, you would probably think about walking past.. we did, too! It was the horrendous food at Kunjar that made us come in here, and I am so glad that was the case. Although the decor wasn't up to much, the food was lovely! We ate there three times in three days and can honestly say it was amazing. The portion sizes were large, so couple that with it being cheap and you've got a winner! The staff were friendly too. In fact, it was the staff that was the ultimate factor in us coming back, regardless of the food being lovely. It was always busy as well, which was reassuring- especially as most of the customers were locals. If you're in Thekkady, do give this place a visit.

“Ordinary restaurant with great food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 December 2013

This restaurant sits right on the road leading to Periyar Tiger Reserve, Look on the left hand side while going to the Tiger Reserve you will not miss it. It is situated on the first floor of the building and has plenty of parking space.

As mentioned in the earlier reviews it is a very ordinary restaurants with no decor and simple furniture, so if you are looking for nice ambiance and cozy seating don't go there. The staff is very welcoming and helpful to select from the menu. The menu spread is very nice, they have Punjabi , Chinese and Kerala cuisines.

The food over here tastes amazing, we had Special Kerala Lunch which had small portions of fish curry, fried chicken, boiled egg, two vegetable curries, sambhar, rassam, rice and various kinds of pickle and chutneys. It can easily shared by two people along with some side orders. Each and everything in that plate was tasty. We ordered praws fry with it which again was delicious. They serve some kind of ayurvedic water which is warm and pink in colour, if you aer not willing to try it there's always an option of bottled water.

Cost wise your can expect cost for two around Rs.500 to 600 if you are having Kerala specialties.
