“Not worth the time and effort”
Reviewed 3 February 2014

We had booked a day long Gavi trip which was supposed to include Jeep Safari, Trekking and boating in the wild. In the end it turned out to be a waste of time and effort. The jeep safari is nothing but a drive through to reach the forest resort, its a long call to call it a wildlife jeep safari. The trekking and boating are also just for names sake and there is not real thrill about it.

“A right place to live with the wild”
Reviewed 24 January 2014

A memorable experience in life. You can reach this place from two directions .From Vandiperiyar and also from Pathanamthitta.Roads are okay but cannot expect much from a forest region. There is one Govt, bus( KSRTC) running on this route.Bus leaves 6.30 am and 12.30 pm from Pathanamthitta and around 1.00 pm from Kumali. Gavi eco tourism offers accommodation that includes food. Booking can be done in advance.Accommodation be rated medium. They will also provide a guide.Gavi is famous for elephants. I was lucky to see a group of 15 elephants. The most amazing thing is that you wake up in the morning with singing of the wild birds. A right place if you really love to be with the nature.

The road to the resort is very good, although we didn't see animals. But on reaching the resort, the location, atmosphere, tracking, boating - everything was amazing and felt like another Heaven

“Great place!”
Reviewed 6 January 2014

Its indeed a great place to visit. Far from Thekkady (2.5 hrs) but worth visiting once. It offers 1 to 3 hours trekking, boating, breakfast and lunch in the package. Lunch is good for pure vegeterians as well whereas trekking is available on different routes, available for young ones and also for family with kids. Route is also nice through jeep, where if u r lucky can see some wild animals.

“Wonderful and excellent (only if you love Nature)”
Reviewed 4 December 2013

Excellent and Wonderful - Must say Nature rules here.

Don't read on if you are "few hour traveler" to Gavi.

Gavi ecoTourism could be enjoyed fully only if you choose to stay there for full day. You won't at all feel you wasted your money. Food was excellent. Staff is polite and eager to serve. Rooms were below average but have all basic facilities including 24-hour hot water supply (I stayed in Green Mansion cottage - but please don't expect more as luxury and Nature don't come hand to hand. This is the only compromise).

Scenery in evening from lake is breath taking, complimented by mist and Nature sounds (birds, insects and some times animal sounds and bamboo whistles). Morning jungle safari is excellent and if Nature allows you may see breathtaking scenaries as well.

Package includes everything - homestay, breakfast, lunch, dinner, few hour trekking, boat ride and morning 2-3 hour jungle safari in jeep (Jungle safari is unique as Not all traveler's are permitted to go deep into the Gavi. It happens only through govt. appointed guides and drivers. I was fortunate, that my guide (Aji T) was totally obsessed with Nature.

Want to save some money any wish to enjoy Gavi to fullest. Catch early morning bus from Kumily to gavi (goes at 05:30 AM). You will be in Gavi EcoTourism centre around 07:30. Here starts your morning welcome from Nature - Early morning Lake View and Bird Chirps, which Echoes.
