We stayed 3 nights in Green Woods Resort in Standard, Aranya rooms while visiting the Periyar Wildllfe Sanctuary. The rooms were very clean and well presented with plenty of facilities, although a little dark. A slightly annoying fridge noise meant we switched it off overnight.
The staff were excellent; special thanks to the Naturalist who was on hand to point things out, and the waitress in the Coffee Tree House (also worth a visit for those with a head for heights and rope bridges).
The food was served buffet style and was very tasty with a wide range of mild to spicy, meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. Plenty of good advice from the friendly Chief Chef for those uncertain what to try.
The gardeners were tidying up the coconut trees and offered us a fresh coconut to drink from which was excellent and a very kind thought.
Wi-Fi access was inconsistent.
Overall however, we had a super stay, well worth the visit.

The Greenwoods is well located to visit Periyar Nature Reserve where the early morning soft trek is great. We also went to Elephant Junction and the wonderful Abrahams's Spice Garden.
The hotel promotes an eco friendly approach which is to be recommended. The buffet breakfast and evening meal is good quality and has plenty of choice. Staff are courteous and very helpful.
The rooms are lovely and the pool is good. I can recommend the Ayurvedic massage and afternoon tea in the treehouse café.

We went to Green Woods as our other hotel had messed up with our booking and so shifter us here for night. so we were not so happy with the arrangement but had no choice. But as soon as we reached the hotel we were happy. Its a nice property. have a lot of pleasant and happy vibe. The staff is courteous. The rooms were nice with a little balcony on the first floor.
The food was also very good and the pool was clean. They have a very interesting coffee shop on a tree house. But we couldn't go there as going with a child wasnt allowed.
The best part about the place is that its in Kumily, in the middle of the market. And so you dont have to travel far and do some local shopping from around the area. Some good jewelry and spice shops are there. And even after being near to market its totally peaceful.
So a perfect place for a family vacation.

I stayed in this Resort in the "Amravati" which is their Suite Room, and as Mentioned on trip advisor, it deserves to be the no.1 resort in Thekkady. Every thing was in place right from the check-in till check out, apart from the few glitches, which I hope they will take care of in future. The Wi-Fi was not working even on constant complaints to reception. They didn't offered the welcome drink, which I think is a must do, in the hospitality industry, Considering the big name associated with the resort. But apart from this every thing was next to Perfect.

The hotel was clean and the staff very good. The website gives the impression that it is remote but it is actually on the edge of town. We had a very nice villa with a small plunge pool but you are very close to the town which, like everywhere in India, is noisy. It wasn't a problem but light sleepers should be aware of it.
The pool was large and excellent.
The hotel is very much a stop over for a night and there were a few tour buses. The food was good but all buffet. Also it was completely dry with no Alcohol licence.

We stayed here for two nights while on a bespoke tour. After a five hour journey from Cochin on spectacular winding mountain roads it was a relief to arrive in Thekkady. We were given a warm welcome at the hotel where we had a standard room. This was obviously one of their older rooms with older traditional type furniture, the end of a small terrace, but large with a sitting area, large shower, luggage area, T.V., and refrigerator, but no hair dryer. There were casement doors on to our veranda where there were chairs and which looked out over the village. There is no alcohol served in this hotel, but there is a shop almost opposite the entrance where we bought beer and wine at very reasonable prices. We were shown round the resort where the trees, animals and birds were explained and we were then asked to plant a small tree outside our room. Later we watched a cookery demonstration by Sajeesh, the sous chef who very kindly sent the recipes via e mail to our home. Thomas, the chef was there at dinner advising on the dishes on the buffet. I do not eat spicy food, but found plenty on the buffet, which was delicious. All the staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. A relaxing and peaceful stay.
