This was a wonderful place to stay. You are very well looked after and the staff are simply lovely. Places to eat close by with Fresh fish anything you want really, but the food at the Bluewater is also very good , including the breakfast. We were collected from the airport, as arranged, driver there waiting. Can't fault our stay at this lovely little hotel.

Need to be careful of excrement left by the fisherman on the beaches, the only downfall of the whole of our stay.

Visiting the resort for the 2nd time in two years, says that we thought 1st time, though slightly dis-appointed the 2nd. Food was average, Manager, very helpful and service impeccable, except of course they do not have liquor license, so one often had to go to the cliffs, where there is plenty of choice for food and drinks or buy from the local shop and drink it warm !!
All in all a great place, excellent location & views.

Went here last weekend based on the reviews seen on tripadvisor.
I'm just going to repeat what everyone else has been saying.
This place is wonderful !

Lets look at what all makes it so good -

Location - Its located on top of a small cliff that is at a slight curve. Consequently, you get very good almost "panoramic" views of the sea. Its about a 10-minute walk away from the main Varkala cliff where all the activity is. Do make sure you carry a torch if coming back at night from that main beach. There are about 2-3 small isolated beaches close to this place if you dont want to go all the way to the Varkala main beach.

Cottages - About 10 well constructed sea facing cottages. The interiors have wooden panelling on the ceiling, and wooden chairs etc. plus Kerala style red -brick tiles on the roof. From outisde looks more like the smaller houses within a Kerala temple. Everything is clean inside, and bathroom towels and all looked fresh. It's may not be a full fledged resort with pools n evertythin, but its strength lies in it being small and cosy.

Staff - Extremely helpful and efficient staff. It is a small place so you have more of a homely feel here.

Food - Very less spicy, I think the reason being made more to the liking of tourists. I liked it that way and liked the grilled fish.

Other things - Spotted a couple of dolphins far off in the distance... but looked like they were a bit shy... and couldnt see them making bigger jumps :-)....

Will let the pics say the rest...

Have fun !

We had a great 6 night stay here at the beginning of our 2 week trip around Kerala. It was a perfect place to start our holiday, so relaxing after our journey. We occupied the front bungalow with gorgeous, uninterrupted views of the sea and beach. My sister and her partner had the bungalow behind us. My Mum and her partner had an AC room in the two-story house. All of the accommodation was good, and kept very clean. The food was tasty and reliable, we enjoyed everything we ordered.

The staff were lovely. Rakesh, the manager is a such a good man and works very hard. He was always ready to help if we needed anything.

Highlights of our stay here were walking along the beach to the beautiful lake on Christmas morning and seeing absolutely loads of dolphins playing in the sea. Also, on Boxing day we were in the sea and the fishermen asked for a hand pulling their nets in. Our men leapt at the chance and then spent the next 45 mins hauling the huge, heavy nets in. I think they signed up for more than they bargained for but it certainly provided my sister and I with some good entertainment! We were then invited for lunch at one of the fishermans house by way of thanks.

All in all, we really enjoyed our stay here and managed to totally zone out and relax within a few hours of arriving. Perfect!

We enjoyed our stay at BlueWater. The staff and manager were very nice to us and very helpful. We stayed at a room at the back and therefore didn`t pay too much. The little cottages would have been way out of our budget. So don`t hesitate to ask. By foot you can easily walk to the restaurants and shops on the cliff and still enjoy the calmness at the BlueWater and the very good food there also. If you need a workout you can help the fishermen in the morning to tow in the net. They`re more than happy if you are wiling to help and it`s a great experience!

Firstly I would just like to say that the Manager was absolutely fantastic, he couldnt do enough for us and was so helpful with everything we asked. He truly was excellent. The staff also were all very pleasant.
The cottages are lovely but I feel for what we paid, the room should be serviced daily and the actual location - there was no beach as such in front of the properties - it is full of rocks and boulders, intended to be used as a sea wall.
We were happy to have the walk to North Cliff which is pleasant but at night very dark - I wouldnt want to do a walk like that on my own. Also the hotels actually at North Cliff were so much cheaper to what we paid at BlueWater. The only reason we wouldnt recommend this hotel is that we feel it is overpriced.

A repeat vist in August was as good as the first!
A few staff changes, but the overall experience is still extremely good esp. with the addition of a very good Nepali Chef.
A Hotel is really only ever as good as its staff & in the case of Blue Water they are second to none! Very very helpful & its great to see the locals walking past & being able to have the occasional conversation with them & watch the Fishermen at work. An experience not possible at the gated Taj Hotel!
All in all, still highly recommended for a memorable stay in Varkala!
