This is a great place to stay in Varkala. The huts are really nice, with a veranda with hammock.
The owners are friendly, the view is good and great location. There are so many good restaurants around this place. In the night it's quiet, I had no problems sleeping here.
Lovely place with good value for money!

This place was great. We arrived with heavy back packs and were given the pick of a bunch of rooms. We went for one of the larger ones. Each have their own little terrace with a couple of chairs on - a nice place to relax in the shade. The place is on the top of south cliff overlooking the red beach below. You can fall asleep with the windows open and fall asleep to the sound of the crashing waves below. Really relaxing. There's no AC, so it is hot literally all the time. Also no hot water (not that you'd want a hot shower)... so it's a basic choice, but still a clean one. The owner's son was really helpful. We'd go back in a heart beat. There only reason I've not given this five stars is because the place could be so much more with a little TLC. The owners should spend a bit of time chopping down some of the shrubbery and clearing away some of the rubbish and it could be paradise - but that's a pretty minor concern given the price.

I'd probably give this place a better review if they hadn't kicked us out to make way for a higher paying guest! Beware their rates vary, we paid 350rs per night but everyone we spoke to paid a different amount. 350 is good value but getting turfed out with little notice is not! The rooms are clean enough and aside from the odd monstrously large spider made for a decent stay.
Do not be sucked in by the insincere smiles of the host she's only looking for the money.

While staying at Bamboo Village my husband fell ill. The friendly owner took my husband to a doctor and was very caring. Her concern was touching - she offered tea and an extra fan and made us really feel that she cared about us as people, not just as clients. We stayed in one of the small bamboo huts and it certainly wasn't fancy but it was all we needed - a place with a shady porch to while away the day.

Room Tip: The bamboo huts don't have AC available but are closer to the cliff so a better view and breeze...

I stayed here for over a month, they made me feel like one of the family, what ever I needed they helped in any way they could, I have stayed in places all around the world for many years and bamboo village is by far one of the best!!!!!
Abi and minou who work there are so friendly and acomidating made my stay perfect..
I recommend this place highly, being on the cliff can be noisy but being set back and with sea view's with palm tree's shading from the sun makes bamboo village the perfect retreat..
You should check this place out and stay... If not your mistake...
Thank you bamboo for the best experience in Varkala

When some friends booked us into the Bamboo Village, my immediate thought - we were in Cochin at the time - was ugh! What a name! We couldn't have been more wrong. Our six nights there were the best we spent in Kerala. We chose rooms in the main block, not the bamboo huts themselves. My room on the first floor was basic but perfect - large, clean, with a fully functioning shower room and a great balcony on which we spent nights reading chatting, watching the fireflies and - in the morning - watching a large woodpecker tap-tapping away at the tree in the grounds. We felt very safe and secure here; the staff kept a constant eye on who was coming in and out; and the resort was minutes away from everything we needed: beach, shops, restaurants and cafes. I'd stay here again any time.

Room Tip: If you are in the main block, not the huts, ask for a room upstairs. they are much lighter and the v...
