Didn't actually stay there, but had a rather weird experience on the phone. We were quoted prices very different from what I gathered from Tripadvisor (cheapest option 800! with the monsoon season raging?!), so I asked a Malayalam-speaking person to call and ask again. They were told half the price I was told. Enough said I think....

The hotel is very well located, on the cliff and right near the stairs to get down to the beach. I went there at the end of the season, so there was not a lot of personnel around, but enough to satisfy your requests (it took some time, though). It is composed by a dozen of bungalows with sea view and other smaller bungalows in the back. We choose a bungalow with sea view, it was very simple, but quite clean.

Room Tip: Better to chose a bungalow with sea view

I stayed three nights and had a really nice time. Friendly staff and nice view. I can really recommend this place. Its wonderful to spend tne afternoon in the hammock reading a book and looking to the sea. Its also a nice walk to both the msin beach and the black beach.

Really helpful staff, they helped us with renting a scooter and moved us to another room when ours was overwhelmed by ants.
It's in a really good location right on the cliff.
It could however have been cleaned a little better.

Bamboo Village created a safe and friendly environment for me and many others. I even met some life long travel friends here as well, and that is priceless. The staff is always there to help and are kind, funny, and GENUINE people. Occasionally, if sitting with them at the right time, they would offer you their daily chai, they took my friend to the hospital when she got sick, and always kept the vibes high and positive. It would be hard to be unhappy here, I do believe, It is a good price for the prime location (it is quieter on this end, so you can sleep throughout the night..) and the hammocks create a peaceful rest area outside. It really is a village and a place to hangout, not just a walking in and out of your hotel. It is as beautiful as you see in these pictures. My friend I planned to stay two nights and ended up staying ten. I highly, HIGHLY recommend bamboo village. Thank you for the great experience!

The place was located just on the cliff from where you can see the sea, beautiful location with enough peace of mind.. Both golden beach and black beach are at walkable (5-10 min) distance.. Rooms can be maintained little better.. On a whole ' a good value for money' you spend..

The stay was fine, but we were misled by the picture shown on the web site we booked through. We were under the impression that we were booking a hut because of the picture of a hut beside it accompanied by the words “Standard sea view”. It would have been clearer if it said “Standard sea view room”. However it was a good location although the view of the sea is very small as it is mostly obscured by trees. The room was satisfactory with mosquito nets at the windows and a fan. If your neighbours stay outside their room in the chairs provided talking all night, you will be kept awake. I was also woken early every morning by the very loud call to prayer.

Room Tip: They have rooms and huts, make sure you are booking the one you want.
