Really beautiful, fantastic and historical. A place where there is no caste, creed or religious discrimination. Sree Narayana Guru, the founder of Sivagiri Asram is really a great man.

The temple grounds are covered in sand, which makes walking around a very pleasant experience. Climbing the many! stairs to the samadhi, we arrived just in time for the evening pooja, which was truly beautiful. Devotees, monks . . . joined in unison to chant before we all received our offering. The evening was very still, so extremely hot standing in the crowd. Often wonder why Indians don't carry fans?

We had our wedding here and it was such a fantastic experience. We toured the temple briefly before and could have sat for hours listening to the meditation prayers. I am not Indian or Hindu but was made to feel extremely welcome by everyone (the temple - including the inner sanctum - is open to all faiths).

The temple itself is surprisingly big with many steps but it's well worth going and seeing everything and spending as much time as you can there. It's a common tourist destination so you shouldn't have any trouble taking an auto there from town - just ask for 'Shiva-ree - price ranged from 80 to 100 rupees but we did have a native speaker with us so I would recommend haggling where possible. :)

it is quite calm and peaceful place. The saints there are very helpful and pay great attention to the devotees. We did Guru pooja and had a great experience in climbing the up hill.
